（１）死の幻想
自分の死が怖い。生前、あらかじめ、自分の死の状態を想像・描出できないため。幻想を持つことはできる。幻想のみ可能。しかし分別があり賢いなら、そんな幻想に頼れない。かくて自分の死への不安が、ますます深まる。
（２）人生は夢
結局、人生は夢にすぎない。このことは繰り返し長い間、大昔から、世界中で言われてきた。
（３）現実は重大で圧倒的
しかし、現実に生きている時は、人生は、重大で圧倒的である。ただの夢にすぎないと感じるなど、ありえない。現実に誰かを憎悪し、病気に苦しみ、激しく働く。さまざまなことを心配する。必死に感情的に生きる。人々と種々の関係を持ち、一生懸命かつ苦労して、それらと取り組む。この世で生きることに、疲れる。
（４）人生が夢なら救い
人生がただの夢なら、一方で、それはある意味で、慰めになり救いになる。理由は、夢なら、責任、失敗、必死さなどが、相対化されるから。
（５）人生が夢なら無意味
他方で、それは、騙され裏切られたと、感じさせもする。この世での努力、闘い、熱心さを、無意味に思わせる。自分は、夢の中の影。影は、空虚さを持つばかり。
（６）死は休息だが永遠に続く
ある場合には、死は休息である。ひどい状況の中で、生きるのに疲れ果てたような場合である。しかしその休息は、永遠に続く。これはもちろん、心配の種となる。

You fears your death because you can’t imagine or depict what it is in advance while you live. You can make an illusion about it. Only an illusion is possible. But you are so sensible and clever that you can’t rely on such an illusion. Therefore you become more and more in anxiety about your death.

Your life is only a dream after all. They have been saying this again and again for a long time from ancient years all over the world.

But while you live really, your life is severe and overwhelming. You can’t feel that it is only a dream. You really hate somebody, suffer from desease, and work as hard as you can. You are worried about various things. You live desperately and passionately. You have various relations with others and manage them eagerly and in troublesome ways. You become tired of living in this world.

If your life is only a dream, it can ease and relieve you in a sense on the one hand. The reason is that it makes your responsibility, failures, despereateness and so on relativized.
(5)
On the other hand, you also feel that it decieves and betrays you. It makes your efforts, struggles, and eagerness in this world look to be meaningless. You are like a shadow in a dream. A shadow has only vanities.
(6)
In some cases, your death means that you take a rest. It is the case that you are exhausted to live your life in extremely bad conditions. However, the rest continues forever. This worries you of course.
