現在霊石は野原岳の南側の麓にあるが、最初の頃は頂上付近の北西側斜面にあった。
霊石は琉球石灰岩でつくられており、直径が１１０㎝、高さが１３５㎝の円柱形をしている。
今から６００年ほど前に野原岳一帯を支配していた大嶽按司が守り神としてこの霊石をつくり
野原岳の頂上付近に立てたという伝説が残っている。
地元ではこの霊石をタマザラ御嶽と呼んで、今でも信仰の対象になっている。


　Tamaishi used be on the northwestern slope near the top of Nobarudake.
It is currently located at the southern foot of the mountain.
Column-shaped Tamaishi is 110㎝. across and 135㎝. high Ryukyuan limestone.
There is a folklore that Tamaishi was built as a guardian deity by Aji Ufunushi
who had ruled the entire Nobarudake area.
The local residents still worship Tamaishi, calling it Tamazara-Utaki.
