Suppose you are a college student in Los Angeles and you are shy with people.
When you are walking in the campus, an American student talks to you and asks the way
to the audio-visual room.
You don't know the location and feel embarrassed to speak.
What do you say?

Actually, I'm afraid I don't know where the audio-visual room is.
And I'm a Japanese student, so I'm not so good at speaking English.
Please ask someone else.

What day of the week do you like the best?
Give me a reason.

Well, currently, I like Friday the best.
On Fridays, I make a point of doing a middle-distance walking to one
of the Mac chain stores and studying English there.
This is my best way to change the mood.

Your friend comes over and tells you that he is having problems
with his daughter in her late-teens.
What do you say to advise him on how to get along with his daughter?
If you were in the same position, what would you do?

Actually, I'm single, so I'm afraid my idea will not work, but let me try.
If I were in your shoes, I would try to make a conversation-starter.
For example, I might put my favorite book on her desk, which means I would
do something to make her ask a question.
And then, I would try to have harmless talking for a short time.
I think it would be better than nothing.

I've heard your friend Ellie is going to start dieting.
She always says, "Then, I'll start dieting tomorrow."
But actually she's never done it.
Do you think she really starts it tomorrow?

Well, honestly, I hope so.
Actually, I think she has to.
If not, she will get sick some day.
I really want to support her determination this time.
