カリフォルニアでタイムスリップ -Time Slip in California-

友人が南カリフォルニアのオレンジ群コカコーラコレクターズクラブの副会長をしている縁で会合に出席。高齢化してるう！ってびっくり。会合は毎月だそうでほとんど敬老会みたいだ。日本からはるばる来ましたとか紹介されて予期せぬスピーチまでさせられた。

My Pal, Jim is charged with the vice president of Orange County Coca Cola Collectors Club. He took me the monthly meeting in a local church. Most of them are elder people but very friendly and I was well received.

日本からなんか持ってきてって急に言われたんでウチ奥さんがウチの近所のスーパーで缶入りコカコーラとか日本語の入っているコーラを買ってもってきたが、それをオークションにかけて、わずか数百円が全部で２万円近くになってびっくり。もちろんこれはクラブの寄付になるので私は儲かってません。

A few days head of my leaving, Jim asked me to bring some Japanese Coke items for the club auction.So my wife got some bottles and cans for the moment at a super market in Tokyo and all are very cheap stuff. In the auction each of them was sold at the high price and total went up to almost $200 ! Of course It was donated to the club and I tell you it didn't go into my pocket anyway. I really enjoyed the meeting and want to say thanks to all members.

これは近郊で開かれたクラシックカーのスワップミート。コカコーラ仕様のこのVW、後ろにコカコーラのキャラのシロクマくんがのっているんだけど見える？

The Coke decorated Beetle was seen in the sunday swap meet in Pomona, can you see the Coke polar bear was sitting in the back seat.

↑50年代のシボレー。フルレストア済み。結構このクルマはなんと中南米にまだ走っているのがあるんで、程度の良いのを輸入してキレイに復元しているようだ。

50's Chevy , fully restored. I heard these old Belair still ran in somewhere in Middle South America. Some collectors or classic car delaers import and make up them into such beauty cars. 

クルマだけでなくこんな感じで無数の部品を売っている。広大な広場ですごい数の人がこうして出品しているのでとてもちょっとの時間では全部見て回れない。

We can see not only classic cars but thousands of parts sellers in the ground. I cannot see  them all exhibited there 'cause this meeting was held in a huge parking lot.

かつて東京の墨田区の立川ってとこに解体屋がいっぱいあったのを思い出した。

It brought me back there used to be a lot of scrapers and used parts sellers in Tokyo,too.

土曜の夜はギターミュージックのライブパーティ。やる音楽も古いんで来る客も古くさいカッコウをしてくる。このお嬢さんは兄弟がバンドをしていて，その人のハンドメイドの50年代風マドラスチェックのワンピースを着て来きた。名前はメリーさん。いいね、メリーさんって定番的で！
