元日の夕日に
一九九一年十二月三十一日の夕日が
一九九二年一月一日の朝日になって
東の空に昇ったとき
その朝日を
私たちは「初日」と呼びました――しかし
今、目の前で赤々と西の山に入りかける
元日の夕日を、どう呼んだらいいか
私はわからずにいます
元日の朝日には「初日」の名があるのに
同じ日の夕日には親しい呼び名がありません
名がないことは人間の無関心の証拠
それさえ気付かずにきた私たちの長い迂闊
その迂闊に少し恥ずかしい思いをしながら
私は
美しすぎる元日の夕日を
しばし見送っています
それにしても
元日の夕日に親しい呼び名を贈ろうとした野暮天（ﾔﾎﾞﾃﾝ）が
今まで一人もいなかった？
《感想》
①元日の朝日は「初日」と呼ばれるのに、元日の夕日に何の親しい呼び名も、つけられていないのは残念で、迂闊だという話。
②元日の夕日がとても美しいことに、詩人は心打たれたのだ。
③そう思った者は、これまでにも、いただろう。元日の夕日に、呼び名を贈った者が、もしいたら、何と名付けたか、知りたい。
ABOUT THE SETTING SUN OF NEW YEAR’S DAY
When the setting sun of December 31, 1991 became the rising sun of January 1, 1992, and rose in the east sky, we called the rising sun“Hatsuhi”, that is, “the sun of New Year’s Day sunrise”.
However with regard to the setting sun of New Year’s Day that is now setting behind a west mountain flamingly in front of me, I don’t know how I call it.
The rising sun of New Year’s Day is named “Hatsuhi”, but the setting sun of the same day has no popular name.
The fact that something has no name means the evidence that we, humans, are not interested in it.
We didn't notice even about this situation for a long time. It was our thoughtlessness.
While I am slightly ashamed of our thoughtlessness, I give a send-off for some time to the setting sun of New Year’s Day that is so beautiful.
By the way, was there any sensible and unrefined person till now who tried to give a popular name as a present to the setting sun of New Year’s Day?
