The Olympic Games in Beijing 平成戊子20年葉月24日
The Olympic Games in Beijing have been truly astouning.
I thought that their minds to win were more stronger than their techniques.
Of course, they have practiced extremely hard.
I found that they got Gold medals because of continual daily efforts and good supports of their friends, coaches around.
They couldn’t win by themselves. Four years ago, one of athletes, Kyouko Hamaguchi said, “ Although my medal is made of bronze and not gold, of the experiences I have had in my life, this experience adds up to far more than even a Gold medal.” And at this time, she got a Bronze medal again. She was glad much more than Athens. Probably her mother will say “ Even a Bronze medal is fine. We are happy as a family, and we can ask for no more than that.” I was very touched.
I heard that Kitajima had had a mental training to win and had his body’s hair shaved.
I was surprised. On many occasion, I have been so moved by their efforts that tears have welled up in my eyes. They have been brought up since 5 or 6 years old as athletes.
It is important for us that we should have dreams early especially in childhood.
This is not only in sports. I think that each of athletes has the point passing across in their lives, and getting gold medals is not the only things that can make them happy.
I hope they should make new goals and continue striving toward their own goals.
Thank you for reading.
