　パナソニックは、防犯カメラや無線ＬＡＮのＷｉ―Ｆｉ（ワイファイ）基地局などを装備した多機能街灯システムを国内外で拡販する。２０１８年春に欧州で提供し、２０年には日本でも商用化する。データ通信に電力線を使うため、既存の街灯に通信設備を導入せずに済む。ＩｏＴ（モノのインターネット）技術を使った“スマート社会”の実現に向け、２５年に世界で１億４０００万本に上るとされる多機能街灯の需要を開拓する。

　パナソニックは多機能街灯システムのデータ通信に、電力線を使った電力線搬送通信（ＰＬＣ）「ＨＤ―ＰＬＣ」を採用する。ＰＬＣを高速化する独自技術で、コンセントに差し込むだけで通信が可能。混線しにくく、特殊な変調信号を使うためデータを盗まれにくい。

　同社はまず、複数の多機能街灯を組み込んだシステムを欧州に投入する。Ｗｉ―Ｆｉスポットになるほか、周囲に人がいない時は明るさを落とし消費電力を抑える。また機器の故障を管理センターに通知する機能があり、保守費用を減らせる。一方、日本では１８年３月までに大阪府門真市や佐賀県鳥栖市にある同社事業所で、カメラなどを搭載した街灯の実証試験に入る。

　日本国内では電波法の規制からＰＬＣの利用は屋内などに限られており、屋外での利用は難しい。ただ日本政府は技術革新を後押しするため、１８年にも一時的に規制を取り除く方針を打ち出しており、ＰＬＣの利用拡大に期待が高まる。まず社内の実証試験を進め、技術課題などを解決する。

　中国では将来の事業化を見据え、日本のＨＤ―ＰＬＣ推進団体と大気汚染を測定する街灯の実証試験を始めた。海外でもスマートな街灯に注目が集まる。

海外勢では米ゼネラル・エレクトリック（ＧＥ）が多機能街灯を開発している。交通データを集め、渋滞解消や駐車場の空き情報の紹介に役立てるセンサーを搭載する見通し。米シスコシステムズも京都府などで多機能街灯を実証している。

台湾・中央気象局によると、今月10日頃から、台湾・中部の南投県竹山鎮と、隣接する雲林県古抗郷を震源とする地震が相次いで発生しています。この一連の地震の震源は、1999年9月21日に発生した台湾での観測史上最大の地震である「921大地震」の震源となった南投県集集鎮の南に当たります。
現地時刻11日20:22頃には、一連の地震で最大規模となるM5.1、現地の震度階級で震度5級の地震が発生し、この地震を含め震度5級が3回、震度4級が2回観測されるなど、10日以降、これまでにこの地域を震源として28回の地震が観測されています。
なお、台湾の震度階級「中央気象局地震震度分級表」によると、震度4級は日本の震度4と同一、震度5級は日本の震度5弱と5強を合わせた階級となっています。

アメリカのＵＳＧＳ＝地質調査所によりますと、日本時間の１３日午前３時１８分ごろ、イラク北東部を震源とするマグニチュード７．２の地震を観測しました。震源は首都バグダッドから北東におよそ２３０キロ離れたイランとの国境付近で、震源の深さは３３．９キロ、地震の規模を示すマグニチュードは７．２と推定されています。

(CNN)A magnitude 7.2 earthquake has hit near the Iraqi city of Halabja close to the Iraq-Iran border, according the US Geological Survey.

The temblor, centered about 350 kilometers (217 miles) north of Baghdad, was felt throughout Iraq, USGS said. The extent of any damage was not immediately available.

 

A strong 7.3-magnitude earthquake has rattled the northern border region between Iran and Iraq, killing more than a hundred people.

At least 129 people have died in western Iran's Kermanshah province, officials told state media.

Four more have been reported dead in Iraq. The death toll is likely to rise.

The earthquake sparked panic, with residents fleeing their homes for the streets.

Mosques in the Iraqi capital Baghdad have been saying prayers through loudspeakers.

Many of the victims were in the town of Sarpol-e Zahab, about 15km (10 miles) from the border, Iran's emergency services chief, Pir Hossein Koolivand, said, according to Iranian state television channel IRINN.

Damage was reported in at least eight villages, the head of Iran's Red Crescent Organisation, Morteza Salim, told the channel.

"Some other villages have suffered power cuts and their telecommunications system has also been disturbed," he said.

(CNN)More than 200 people are dead and more than 2,500 injured after a powerful 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck the border region between Iran and Iraq late Sunday.

Iran's Press TV said the highest number of casualties in the country occurred in the town of Sarpol-e Zahab, Kermanshah province, with the country's semi-official Mehr news agency saying 100 of the 207 reported dead were from that town alone.

 

In the Kurdish region of northern Iraq, seven deaths were reported.

While most of the deaths reported so far have been in Iran, the quake's epicenter was across the border in Iraq, about 350 kilometers (217 miles) north of Baghdad.

 

Tremors were felt throughout the region according the US Geological Survey, which said the quake reached a depth of 23km, or just over 14 miles.

Cracks in dam

Seven people were killed and 301 injured in the Kurdish region of Iraq, according to Rekawt Hama Rashee, the health minister of the Kurdish Regional Government. Rasheed said most of the injuries were minor.

Four were killed in Darbandikhan, where a dam was hit by falling rocks. Rahman Shikhani, the head of the Darbandikhan Dam told CNN that cracks were spotted in the upper part of the dam but there was no water leakage.

　段ボールメーカーが「三重苦」にあえいでいる。原材料費と燃料費の上昇に加え、製造した段ボールを配送する運送費も上がっているためだ。業界団体も販売先に対し、異例の改善を求めている。

　１０月上旬、大阪府守口市にある段ボール製造工場。段ボールメーカーから委託された運送会社の男性（５２）が手作業でトラックの荷台に段ボールを積み込んでいた。「体力勝負の仕事」と男性は額の汗をぬぐった。夏場には、工場内やトラック内の気温が４０度を超えるのはざらだ。

　段ボールメーカーは、主に運送会社に委託して段ボールを販売先の会社へ届ける。ここ数年は通信販売の急伸で、商品を運ぶ人手が不足して運送コストが上昇。加えて、販売先の企業側が時間を指定するなど配送への要求が厳しくなり、運送会社の負担が増えたという。運転手の確保がますます難しくなっている。

　このため、業界団体の全国段ボール工業組合連合会は、段ボールの販売先に対し、労働環境の改善を求める文書を初めて出した。短期間での少量の段ボールの発注などを見直すよう訴えている。山田晴康専務理事は「現状のままでは、必要な場所に段ボールが行き渡らなくなる」と強調した。
