原理原則に立ち返る
To get back to principle and policy:

込み入って複雑そうに見える問題こそ、原点に立ち返って単純な原理原則に従って判断することが大切だ。さじを投げたくなるような難しいことに直面したら、素直な目と単純明快な原理に基づいて、事の是非、善悪を判断すればいい。
All the more complicated the problem looks, it is more crucial for you to get back to your principle and policy and make a decision based on them. When you face a difficult thing you want to give up, you should make a judgement of what is good and right based on your honest eyes and simple principle and policy.
