hyphen-を使って英語は、かなり自由に言葉を作り出します。化学の構造式みたいに増やせるみたいです。これは便利なのでそのコツを覚えておくと便利だと思います。これに関する解説書はいくら探しても見たことがありません。だからどうして作るのか私には正しい説明がしにくいのですが、どうやら、適当にやればあっているらしい、とまではわかっています。（知っている人がいれば教えてもらいたいと思います。）
私の観察によれば次のことが言えます。
①言葉をhyphenでつなぎ新しい品詞などにする。たとえば形容詞に。
②数は少ないが名詞にもなる。名詞を作る場合もある。
③よく...edの形を見る。例：L-shaped
