◆四千人に食べ物を与える
『 8:1 そのころ、また群衆が大勢いて、何も食べる物がなかったので、イエスは弟子たちを呼び寄せて言われた。
8:2 「群衆がかわいそうだ。もう三日もわたしと一緒にいるのに、食べ物がない。
8:3 空腹のまま家に帰らせると、途中で疲れきってしまうだろう。中には遠くから来ている者もいる。」
8:4 弟子たちは答えた。「こんな人里離れた所で、いったいどこからパンを手に入れて、これだけの人に十分食べさせることができるでしょうか。」
8:5 イエスが「パンは幾つあるか」とお尋ねになると、弟子たちは、「七つあります」と言った。
8:6 そこで、イエスは地面に座るように群衆に命じ、七つのパンを取り、感謝の祈りを唱えてこれを裂き、人々に配るようにと弟子たちにお渡しになった。弟子たちは群衆に配った。
8:7 また、小さい魚が少しあったので、賛美の祈りを唱えて、それも配るようにと言われた。
8:8 人々は食べて満腹したが、残ったパンの屑を集めると、七籠になった。
8:9 およそ四千人の人がいた。イエスは彼らを解散させられた。
8:10 それからすぐに、弟子たちと共に舟に乗って、ダルマヌタの地方に行かれた。
8:1 Not long afterward another large crowd came together. When the people had nothing left to eat, Jesus called the disciples to him and said,
8:2 "I feel sorry for these people, because they have been with me for three days and now have nothing to eat.
8:3 If I send them home without feeding them, they will faint as they go, because some of them have come a long way."
8:4 His disciples asked him, "Where in this desert can anyone find enough food to feed all these people?"
8:5 "How much bread do you have?" Jesus asked. /"Seven loaves," they answered.
8:6 He ordered the crowd to sit down on the ground. Then he took the seven loaves, gave thanks to God, broke them, and gave them to his disciples to distribute to the crowd; and the disciples did so.
8:7 They also had a few small fish. Jesus gave thanks for these and told the disciples to distribute them too.
8:8-9 Everybody ate and had enough-there were about four thousand people. Then the disciples took up seven baskets full of pieces left over. Jesus sent the people away
8:10 and at once got into a boat with his disciples and went to the district of Dalmanutha.』
