D.C. missing teen: Police officer's apartment searched

WASHINGTON (WJLA) - A D.C. police officer is alleged to have been pimping a number of teenage girls from his Southeast D.C. apartment, according to documents filed in U.S. District Court Wednesday.

The unnamed officer is the one whose apartment was searched throughout Wednesday, a search during which sources say police were able to locate a teenage girl who had been reported missing by her family.

According to documents, the girl who was discovered was part of a prostitution ring being run by the cop, who sources say works Washington's 7th District.

A search warrant filed at U.S. District Court in the District indicates that the 16-year-old girl, who was found Wednesday inside the Stanton Road Southeast apartment, was one of a number of girls the officer was allegedly prostituting.

世界を冷静に見られない、というより「見たくない」のほうが近いのかも。

　韓国についても言えていて、このまえ、韓国は世界中で嫌われているなどと、週刊誌かなにかで読んだとか人がいた。

Bishop acts to smooth China relations

China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi last night strongly criticised Ms Bishop for backing Tokyo and Washington's criticism of China's decision to establish a strict defence zone over the disputed Diaoyu Islands.

Mr Wang accused Australia of "jeopardising bilateral mutual trust'' and said "the entire Chinese society and the general public are deeply dissatisfied'' with Australia's comments, according to AFP.

In Beijing today, Ms Bishop said she told Mr Wang, over a four-hour dinner, that Australia wanted the "status quo" of peace and stability to be maintained in the region.

Ms Bishop denied the public criticism by Mr Wang, which surprised Australian diplomats, would damage the relationship between Australia and China.

China is now Australia's largest trading partner with trade worth $US130 billion ($143 billion) a year.

"Australia is keen to co-operate with a number of countries in the region on a bilateral relationship," Ms Bishop said.

"There are a whole range of areas where we cooperate with China, the important thing is for us to discuss these things in a civilised way.

"I'm confident the Australia and China partnership will continue to groww."

　北部九州で６日、中国から飛来する微小粒子状物質「ＰＭ２・５」の濃度が高まり、大分県は県の定めた基準を超えたとして、県内全域の住民に外出を控えるよう呼び掛けた。福岡、長崎では視界が１０キロ未満となる「煙霧」が確認された。

　中国の上海などでは、ＰＭ２・５の濃度が極めて高くなり、大気汚染が深刻なレベルとなっている。このＰＭ２・５の一部が、風に乗って九州に飛来したとみられる。

　大分県によると、中津市で午後１時以降、大気１立方メートル当たりの濃度が最大１０１マイクログラムと連続して基準（平均７０マイクログラム）を超えた。一方、福岡市西区元岡で最大１２２マイクログラムのＰＭ２・５を観測した。

　日本への影響も懸念されている。

秘密保護法成立―憲法を骨抜きにする愚挙

安倍政権は、憲法の精神や民主主義の原則よりも、米国とともに戦える体制づくりを優先しているのではないか。

アメリカの高官たちはそれを歓迎しているようですね。

　情報を公開し、広く議論を喚起し、その声に耳を傾ける。行政の誤りを立法府や司法がただす。その、あるべき回路を閉ざした権力者が判断を誤るのは当然の帰結なのだ。

これはまったくその通りであるが、普段から、マスコミが、

情報公開！
行政の透明化！

と叫んでいない。少なくとも叫び方が足りない。

だから、今回の法案はいままでの機密指定よりもまし、みたいな、ことを言われるのだ。

今後、馬鹿の一つ覚えでいいから、スローガンのようにして叫んでいただきたい。

　秘密保護法はいらない。国会が成立させた以上、責任をもって法の廃止をめざすべきだ。

　それがすぐには難しいとしても、弊害を減らす手立てを急いで講じなければならない。

　国会に、秘密をチェックする機関をつくる。行政府にあらゆる記録を残すよう義務づける。情報公開を徹底する。それらは、国会がその気になれば、すぐ実現できる。

　廃案は無理だろうが、改正は頑張ってもらいたい。

　国民も問われている。こんな事態が起きたのは、政治が私たちを見くびっているからだ。

　究極的にはそうだが、そのまえに、マスコミが国民の声を普段からひろってくれない、と。


　大騒ぎするのはいいだが、今回だけなんで、大騒ぎするのかよくわからないところであった。そもそも、日本のマスコミはアサンジについても、マニングについても、スノーデンについてもそれほど関心もしめさず、普段、黒塗りの文書をもらっても、しゃあねえなあ、くらいの反応しかしていなかったのではないか。

　これから、頑張ってもらいたいと心から思う。

　－－－－ああ、それと、戦前にもどるとか、暗黒時代とか、的外れな論評は、原発で鼻血が出ているといったデマと同じように受け取られて、信用されなくなる原因になるから、気をつけてね。

People don’t actually like creativity.

We are taught that our own creativity will be celebrated as well, and that if we have good ideas, we will succeed.

It’s all a lie. This is the thing about creativity that is rarely acknowledged: Most people don’t actually like it. Studies confirm what many creative people have suspected all along: People are biased against creative thinking, despite all of their insistence otherwise.

“We think of creative people in a heroic manner, and we celebrate them, but the thing we celebrate is the after-effect,” says Barry Staw, a researcher at the University of California–Berkeley business school who specializes in creativity.


Staw says most people are risk-averse. He refers to them as satisfiers. “As much as we celebrate independence in Western cultures, there is an awful lot of pressure to conform,” he says. Satisfiers avoid stirring things up, even if it means forsaking the truth or rejecting a good idea.

Even people who say they are looking for creativity react negatively to creative ideas, as demonstrated in a 2011 study from the University of Pennsylvania. Uncertainty is an inherent part of new ideas, and it’s also something that most people would do almost anything to avoid. People’s partiality toward certainty biases them against creative ideas and can interfere with their ability to even recognize creative ideas.



Staw was asked to contribute to a 1995 book about creativity in the corporate world. Fed up with the hypocrisy he saw, he called his chapter “Why No One Really Wants Creativity.” The piece was an indictment of the way our culture deals with new ideas and creative people”

In terms of decision style, most people fall short of the creative ideal … unless they are held accountable for their decision-making strategies, they tend to find the easy way out―either by not engaging in very careful thinking or by modeling the choices on the preferences of those who will be evaluating them.

Unfortunately, the place where our first creative ideas go to die is the place that should be most open to them―school. Studies show that teachers overwhelmingly discriminate against creative students, favoring their satisfier classmates who more readily follow directions and do what they’re told.




All of this negativity isn’t easy to digest, and social rejection can be painful in some of the same ways physical pain hurts. But there is a glimmer of hope in all of this rejection. A Cornell study makes the case that social rejection is not actually bad for the creative process―and can even facilitate it





Staw says a successful creative person is someone “who can survive conformity pressures and be impervious to social pressure.”

　西洋では創造性を尊重するとかいっているが、しかし、実際には、人々は危険を回避するために、人々と同調し、批判的な思考もしないで、他人に評価されるだろうことばかりしている。社会的に拒絶されるのは、身体に対する怪我のようにダメージが大きいものだからである。創造力を評価されそうな、学校でも　創造性は疎まれ消極的にしか評価されていない、と。クリエーティブな人でも、同調への圧力を生き延びることができる人しか、成功しない、と。


　まあ、私なんか、比較的、同調の圧力に鈍感なほうであるが、しかし、クリエーティブというより、たんに変人だな。

　　文化というのは同調することによって、伝達されるのであって、同調がわるいわけではない。もっとも、悪いこともあるのであって、ジャーナリストを含めて多くのアメリカ人が固定観念的なものの見方しかできないのは、同調の産物である。ただ、これはアメリカ人に限った話ではなく、日本人でも同じだ。

　平均的なアメリカ人は自分たちが個性的、創造性を重視し、また、批判的思考ができると思っているし、東洋の国々では、個性を圧殺し、バッタのように同調的で、批判的な能力がないかのように表象している人が多いし、また、日本人の中にもそのように思い込んでいるひとがいるが、しかし、それほど違いはないのであって、日本人なんか、個性的で、、アイデア商品好きでもわかるように、創造に価値をおいているし、科学に必要な批判的な能力を備えている人は多い。

ついでに、ＮＹＴはアメリカ人に言及するとき、－－－その多くは自分たちは優れた国民だと自負しているーーーとか形容してほしいなあ、他の国民にやるように。
