2012年の元旦メッセージ

本年明けましておめでとうございます。
例年通り、年賀状に代わる「年賀メール」をお送り致します。

「献身の年」とした2011年は、三カ国で数多くの患者さんと接することができ、色んな形の涙と笑顔を目の当たりにした一年でした。1月にハーバードで胸部外科学を、3月にフィリピンで感染症学を学び、4月より聖路加国際病院の研修医としての勤務しております。「献身の年」は終わりましたが、今後は「献身の一生」にできるよう励みたいと思います。

さて、本年のテーマは、「前後の年」にしたいと思います。

面倒がらずに、前に進んでは振り返り、出会いと再会の両方を重んじて、効率より大事なものを追求してみたいと思います。

2012年が皆様にとって幸せ多き年となりますよう心より祈念申し上げます。
本年も、ご指導ご鞭撻の程よろしくお願い申し上げます。

Happy 2012! I trust all is well with you and your family.
As in the past years, I have condensed Christmas cards and New Year greetings into a single message.

2011, "A Year of Dedication to Others," was a truly rewarding experience, beginning with
a thoracic surgery sub-internship at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston,
flying south to Manila for a rotation in infectious diseases in March, and
working as a junior resident at St. Luke's International Hospital in Tokyo from April onward.

My theme for 2012 will be: A Year of Going To-and-fro.

Progress and reflection. New acquaintances and old friends.
Pursuing things lost in the pursuit of efficiency and self-enhancement.
This is a new approach to life that I've been wanting to try for a while.

Finally, I would love to hear from you and correspond on an individual basis.
Communication is a two-way street; I have put my latest "out there" and would be delighted to have your latest "out here."
