本年明けましておめでとうございます。岡本＠アフィア（株）でございます。
例年通り、年賀状の変わる「年賀メール」をお送りいたします。
「飛躍の年」(2003年)、「結果の年」（2004年)に続き、2005年は「初心の年」というテーマを掲げておりました。昨年元旦のお約束どおり、その具体的な内容についてご報告致します。
アフィア（株）は2歳と6ヶ月となり、私の過去最長の勤務先となりました。法人顧客25社、社内外スタッフ20名、売上高も前年比数倍となった会社より、初めて給与を頂くようにもなりました。新事業の立ち上げも行いました。
しかし、その陰には未達成となった目標もありました。そんな中、私は「初心」に戻り自分の人生について考えてみました。その結果、今までは「3年計画」で物事を考えるのが精一杯でしたが、今年はじめて「30年計画」を考える視野を得たと思います。この新しい観点を得たことが、どんな物理的な結果より大きな収穫だったと思います。
そしてそれは、異次元への挑戦を可能としてくれました。具体的には、東海大学医学部の一般編入枠に合格することができ、2006年4月より5年間、社長兼医学部生という不思議な組合せに挑む運びとなりました。
これを受けて、アフィア（株）の主軸だったコンサルティング事業についてはこれを閉鎖し、基本的に翻訳サービスのみを引き続き弊社スタッフとともに提供させて頂く所存でございます。ご迷惑をお掛けしませんよう精進して参りますので、今後ともよろしくお願い申し上げます。
さて、本年のテーマは、
「余裕の年」
にしたいと思っています。
今年は今までになく忙しい年になることが予想されますが、忙しいからこそ余裕を持てるようになりたいと思います。余裕は新たな発想と未知の次元を産み、優しさとぬくもりを育む。近年は波乱万丈な毎日の中で多くを得てきた反面、余裕が少なかったという反省もありましたし、何事も相反する状態（緩急、強弱など）のリズムなのだと思います。
このリズムに乗って、学問・ビジネスなどの枠に捉われず、「人」としての完成度の位を舞い上がりたいと思います。余裕を得た人間が一年でどう変われるのか。一年後の元旦にご判断ください。
2006年が皆様にとって幸せ多き年となりますよう心より祈念申し上げます。本年も、ご指導ご鞭撻の程よろしくお願い申し上げます。

Happy 2006! I trust all is well with you and your family.
As in the past few years, I have condensed Christmas cards and New Year greetings into a single message.
In its third fiscal year, Afia has grown to have 25 corporate clients and to carry a staff of 20. Revenues have grown exponentially, and a new division has been established.
More importantly, I have personally gained a new perspective on life; one that has allowed me to take a big step in a new direction. Up until a few months ago, I had my personal "3-year plan" to guide me through large decisions and to set little milestones along the way. Perceiving the limits imposed by this relatively short-term view, I have finally acquired the ability to envision a much longer time span, effectively creating for myself a "30-year plan."
This new perspective opened many doors for me, and one has led me to the field of medicine. Beginning this April, I will become a medical student at Tokai University, where I will study medicine virtually from scratch for the next 5 years.
In order to make time for this enormous commitment, I have closed the consulting division of Afia and have devoted all company resources to the translation business, which now accounts for over 70% of company revenues.
My theme for 2006 will be: A Year of Latitude.
Being a med student while staying on as CEO will most likely make me busier than ever, but I would like to have the latitude in my heart and mind for new discovery, for kindness, and for greater possibility. I believe that all of the world's formulas are based on a rhythm of contrasting concepts. Thus, instead of only striving to reach a higher ground in a given area, I would like to balance the many aspects of life to reach a higher level as a human being.
Finally, I would love to hear from you and correspond on an individual basis. Communication is a two-way street; I have put my latest "out there" and would be delighted to have your latest "out here."
