Belle Bell

We had 2 large earthquakes these two days at Suzu city in the tip area of the Noto peninsula.

Suzu means "bell" in Japanese and "Sarutahiko" - one of the well-known gods' names in Japanese myth - is also called "Beautiful bell (Belle bell)".

If an ancient Sherman were living now, he/she could have told us the cause for those quakes.

It is probably a story going back more than 10 thousand years ago.

能登半島で大きな地震が発生し、震源地となった珠洲市(すずし)では被害も出ているようです。被災された皆様におかれましては謹んでお見舞い申し上げます。

同地についてはここ数年の地震多発地帯として、また、メディアに頻出するキーワード「スズ」に関連する地名としてブログ上で取り上げてきました。
