3月28日付のThe Japan Timesのhead Lineに "Hon Hai firms to acquire top Sharp stake" とありました。　SharpはPanasonic, Sonyに続き今期大きな赤字を計上しそうです。　予想では2,900億円の赤字で日本の家電メーカーは韓国を始めとするアジア勢の攻勢および円高の影響をもろに受けているというところです。

Hon Hai自身およびそのGroup企業はSharpの新規株を引き受け筆頭株主になるということです

その記事の抜粋：

To provide attractive products quickly to global markets, "it is important to change the business model and establish a system to compete in the global market," said Takashi Okuda, Sharp's executive managing officer who will assume the presidency next month.

"Sharp has technologies to produce (unique) products," but the company, despite its strengths, has been struggling to appeal to consumers in the global marketplace in recent years due to the yen's strength and other outside factors, Okuda said.

"In order to solve these problems, it is crucial that we have cooperation within the value chain rather than managing everything by Sharp," he added.

3月23日付 The Japan Times に "Aichi town padded population to get city status" のHead line があり、その記事の中に次の一文がありました:

Higashiura is largely a bedroom community for auto industry workers commuting to Nagoya and Kariya, Aichi Prefecture, which host Toyota Motor Corp. subsidiaries and affiliates.

ここで bedroom community を調べてみると次のように説明されています

Many people commute to large cities for work every day, but few could ever afford to live within their borders. Even a number of suburban areas have become too expensive for average workers to afford. One solution to this work versus life crisis is known as a bedroom community or commuter town. A bedroom community is generally a smaller city or town located even farther from a major city than the suburbs. The economic base of a typical bedroom community is housing sales and general retail sales, not heavy industry or technology.

3月17日付 The Japan Times に"Kan hero, or irate meddler ?"というタイトルの記事がありました。　内容は昨年の大震災およびそれによって引き起こされた福島第一原発の事後時における菅首相の対応に対する功罪について述べられたものでした。

その中で原子力安全・保安院 NISA(Nuclear and Industries Safety Agency) の対応についても述べられていますがそれは批判的なものでした　その記事から：

"Overall, government bureaucrats centered on NISA reacted passively and they addressed ex post facto.  Their presence was weak" the report said.

ここでex post factoをInternetで調べてみると：

"John Doe"

先週土曜日（3月10日）のInternational ForumでCourt Trialでの通訳に関する話題が再度ありました。　

Prosecutorが"He is John Doe" と言った時 "彼はジョン ドウといいます”と訳してしまったとのことでしたが、これは大きな誤りであるとのことでした

"John Doe" をWikipediaで調べてみると次のように説明されています。

The names "John Doe" for males and "Jane Doe" or "Jane Roe" for females are used as placeholder names for a party whose true identity is unknown or must be withheld in a legal action, case, or discussion. The names are also used to refer to a corpse or hospital patient whose identity is unknown. This practice is widely used in the United States and Canada, but is rare in other English-speaking countries including the United Kingdom  itself, from where the use of "John Doe" in a legal context originates. The name Joe Bloggs  is used in the U.K instead, as well as in Australia and New Zealand.

ラグビー日本選手権・準決勝

昨日（3月11日）花園ラグビー場へラグビー日本選手権の準決勝（パナソニック・ワイルドナイツ 対 NECグリーンロケッツ）の試合を見に行きました。　パナソニックがラグビー？と思ってしまうのですが、パナソニックが三洋電機を吸収合併したため旧三洋電機のラブビー部がそのままパナソニックとして引き継がれたためです。

試合はセップレー、FWの集散ともにパナソニックが圧倒し試合の流れを相手に渡すことなく完勝。　東京国立で勝利したサントリー・サンゴリアスと18日に決勝を争う。　この対戦はトップリーグのプレーオフ決勝の再戦となりその時完敗したパナソニックのチャレンジ・マッチとなる。

大阪城の梅林

大阪城の梅林が開花との知らせが数日前にあり、昨日（3月8日）に行ってみました。　地下鉄で谷町4丁目で下車、馬場町の方へ歩いてゆくと馬場町交差点に歴史博物館とNHK大阪放送局があります。　その向かいは以前行った時は工事中だったのですが立派な府警本部が出来上がっていました。　なんとまあ立派なものを建てたものだと思いました  　その写真がこれです。　　左から歴史博物館、NHK、府警本部。

　　　　　　　　　　　

大阪城公園は随分整備されきれいになりました。　外国人を含む観光客も結構訪れていました

梅林には1200本の梅の木があるとの事。　六分咲きと言うところでしょうか。　なかなか見所のある梅林です。
