少し古い話になりますが日本のプロ野球もソフトバンクの日本一という形で終わりました。予想通りと言えばそうかも知れませんが相手がベイスターズであったことは少し意外だったかも知れません。
ベイスターズはレギュラーシーズン3位でClimax Seriesを勝ち上がってきました。選手の健闘と監督の采配にもよるものかと思います。
第5戦スターター石田を一回で引っ込め三島を投入しこれが当たりました。
その時のニュースに次の一文がありました。

ここにtossed a 1-2-3 second と聞き慣れないフレーズがありましたので調べてみました。
What is 1-2-3 Inning?
An inning of play in which the offensive team is retired by three straight outs without any of the batters reaching the bases. This can include strikeouts by the pitcher as well as putouts by the fielders.
すなわち2回を三者凡退に退けたという意味でした。
