メキシコこぼれ話 №33（運転免許証）
メキシコ生活で必要なもの、それは車である。電車やバス（ぺセロ）はあるが、乗りこなすのにはかなりの慣れが必要であるし、危険を伴う。まして、幼子3人を連れていると実質的に利用不可能である。タクシーが便利だが、バス等よりも高い。そこで、車を取得することになるが、そのためには免許証を手に入れなければならない。早速、赴任して1週間後の日曜日に免許をとりに行った。連れて行かれたのは、「ペリスール」と呼ばれるデパートのモールの屋内広場である。

メキシコこぼれ話 №32（メキシコ生活初日）
赴任当初は、毎日の生活について前任の先生方や奥さんが世話してくれた。そして、自分で生活していけるようにいろいろ教えていただいた。非常にありがたかった。しかし、アパートに入った日（4月13日）が長女の4歳の誕生日だったが、まだケーキを自分で買いにいけるような生活力がなかった。そこで、圧力釜でご飯を炊き、日本から持っていったボンカレーを家族5人で食べた。気持ちだけは明るく、「ハッピーバースデイ」を歌った。これが、3年間のメキシコ生活のスタートだった。

№32/32 T男一家は荷物を持って部屋へ入った。新しいペンキのにおいがする。「やれやれ・・。」 そこで初めて、ホッとしたものを感じた。さっそく、子どもたちはベッドの上で跳ねて遊んでいる。「シーズン中のリゾート地にはきちんとした予約なしで来るもんじゃないな・・。」T男たち以外にもホテルの予約のない旅行客があるとみえて、何人かがホテルのフロントに部屋を探しに来た。次の日の「さだまさし」さんの話では、その晩25台くらいの車がソカロ（中央広場）周辺で夜を明かしたそうだ。あ～～～、危機一髪！
『ウアトゥルコの長～い1日』でした・・。久しぶりに大ピンチにおちいりました。でも、すごいスリルでした。（終）

It was "The longest day in Huatulco." I fell into a crunch after a long absence. But it was a terrible thrill. （Fin.）
№31/32 頼みもしないのに、親切にソカロ（中央広場）周辺を観光案内してくれて、車は「グランド・ホテル」へ・・。まだできたばかりの小さなホテルである。1週間前にとりあえずオープンしたばかりで、まだホテル内のレストランも開業していない。部屋のエアコンもまだついていない。そのホテルに無理やり押し込んでいただいた。

№30/32 事情を話してお願いした。「この時期にホテルの予約なしでこのようなリゾート地にくるなんて無謀ですよ。」という意味のことを言って、自分の車に乗るよう促した。とても親切である。この人に限らず、ウアトゥルコで接したすべての人が親切である。旅でのこの親切は心に深く刻み込まれる。

№29/32 10分も待っただろうか、受付の女性が呼びに来た。Wさんからの電話だ。「やっぱり今日は空き部屋はないそうです。そこで、そちらの別の旅行代理店にいる知人のホアンさんにお願いしてホテルを探してもらってください。」ということだった。同時に、その人が現れた。最後の頼りになる人である。見ると、あの「さだまさし」そっくり。こんなときに笑っちゃいけないけど、今にもギターを持って歌いだしそうに似ていた。

He just looked like "Masashi Sada" He was similar in the way that he began to sing with a guitar in. Of course, we couldn't laugh in such a situation.
