Prime Minister Gordon Brown has warned that terrorists could attack the UK “anywhere and from any place”, as he prepares to unveil the results of two major security reviews today.
今日2つの重要安全保障調査結果を発表するに当たり、ゴードン・ブラウン首相は、テロリストはイギリスを「どこでもどこからも」襲撃出来ると警告した。
Home Office minister Admiral Lord West has completed an inquiry into security at crowded locations across Britain. He is expected to ask sports grounds, shopping centres, cinemas, theatres and other “at risk” venues to improve security, including employing specially-trained door staff.
内務省のウェスト司令長官はイギリス中の混雑した場所の警備に関する調査を完了。
専門に訓練を受けたスタッフを入り口に配置すべく採用することを含め、競技場、ショッピング・センター、映画館、劇場、その他「高リスク」の場所での警備改善を求めると予測されている。
Schools and hospitals will also be issued with new guidance on protecting pupils, patients and staff, according to reports. Lord West will also call on architects to integrate anti-terrorism measures into new buildings.
報告書によれば、学校と病院も生徒、患者、スタッフを保護するための新たな指導を渡されるとのこと。
ウェスト卿はまた、建築家に対して新しい建築物にはテロ防止措置を組み込むよう求める。
However he will add that such measures, including barriers, should be as unobtrusive as possible.
しかし、彼は防壁を含むこのような対策は出来る限り目立たないべきだと付け加える。
It is understood his report is too sensitive to be published in full, and only his conclusions and some other limited points will be made public.
この報告書は全文を公表するには余りにもデリケートであると理解されており、結論やその他限定的なポイントだけが発表される。
In July, Mr Brown said that 900 shopping centres, sports stadiums, transport hubs and other areas where large crowds gather had been assessed by counter-terrorism advisers.
ブラウン氏は7月、ショッピング・センター、競技場、交通の中心、その他大勢人が集まる地域など900ヵ所が、テロ対策アドバイザーによって分析されてきた、と語った。
Writing in The Sun newspaper, Mr Brown said: “Terrorism can hit us anywhere from any place.” He added: “But just as the terrorists use every method and the very freedoms we enjoy to kill or maim people, so we must also adopt new tools to beat the terrorists, secure our borders and create a safe global society.”
サン紙に寄稿してブラウン氏は「テロはどこでもどこからも我々を襲撃出来る」とした。
「しかし、人々を殺したり傷つけたりするために、テロリストがありとあらゆる手段、そして我々が享受する自由そのものを利用する。従って、我々はテロリストを撃退し、国境を護り、安全な国際社会を作り出すために、新しいツールを採用しなければならない」。
He said Lord West’s report contained “key recommendations for the protection of our national security” but that physical protections had to go alongside improved community relations.
彼は、ウェスト卿の報告書には「我が国の安全保障のための重要推薦事項」が含まれているが、物理的な保護はコミュニティー・リレーションズ改善と共に実施されなければならないと言った。
“It is a battle we will have to fight street by street, community by community and year by year. But standing together, resolute and calm, we can win it.”

The second study, led by Sir Gus O’Donnell, the Cabinet Secretary, examined whether police and other staff could be included in a new border force designed to strengthen security at ports and airports.
閣僚のガス・オドネル卿が指揮した2つ目の研究は、警察やその他のスタッフが、港や空港でのセキュリティ強化を目的とした新しい国境警備隊に含まれるかどうかについて調査した。
Mr Brown has announced a new uniformed border force would bring together the Home Office’s Border and Immigration Agency, Customs and the UK Visas overseas operation. Conservative and Liberal Democrat opponents previously criticised the proposals for not including the police.
新しい軍属国境警備隊は、内務省の国境移民局、税関、そして海外でのイギリス入国VISA発行業務をまとめる、とブラウン氏は発表した。
保守党と自由民主党は以前、この提案は警察が含まれていないと批判していた。
