Members of the gang wore burkas - the full body cloak worn by some Muslim women to hide their bodies in public - to disguise themselves and the tools they were carrying as they mingled with customers at Selfridges on June 6, police said.

Police are choosing not to fully investigate hundreds of thousands of crimes, including street attacks, burglaries and fraud.
Huge numbers of cases are deemed unsolvable hours after an allegation is made, in a process known as ‘screening out’.
According to figures released yesterday, almost half of all crimes are not probed by the Met, Britain’s biggest police force.
Recent research revealed as many as one in three crimes reported to other forces across the rest of England and Wales were not investigated.
Campaigners said the practice was creating a ‘postcode lottery’ for victims as police effectively turn a blind eye to some offences. Senior officers were under pressure to focus resources on crimes that were a priority for them and not victims.
New statistics revealed that 45 per cent of crimes, including a quarter of robberies, two out of five burglaries and three quarters of car thefts were not investigated in London last year.
Furthermore, 40 per cent of individual fraud cases, almost two thirds of criminal damage allegations and four out of every five cycle thefts were screened out.
In total, 346,397 were screened out at an early stage with 424,091 crimes being subjected to further investigation.
Roger Evans, a Tory member of the London Assembly, branded the statistics a disgrace and said victims should have the right to make police investigate.

Thousands of innocent holidaymakers and travellers are having their phones seized and personal data downloaded and stored by the police, The Telegraph can disclose.

A police officer can stop any passenger at random, scour their phone and download and retain data, even of the individual is then immediately allowed to proceed
Officers use counter-terrorism laws to remove a mobile phone from any passenger they wish coming through UK air, sea and international rail ports and then scour their data.
The blanket power is so broad they do not even have to show reasonable suspicion for seizing the device and can retain the information for “as long as is necessary”.
Data can include call history, contact books, photos and who the person is texting or emailing, although not the contents of messages.

　イギリスの警察は、イギリス入国する際には、令状なしに、携帯電話を取り上げて、メッセージ内容を除くすべてのデータを捜索することができるそうな。

I sent the video to several Westerners who have spent time in Korea among other expats; they all said that while this is an extreme and highly unusual case, it’s not so uncommon in Seoul to see young Western men drinking heavily and shouting after local women.

　少子化は「国家の危機」との認識に立ち、出生数増に向けてどう取り組むのか、各党には具体策を示してもらいたい。

マスコミが危機に対して常日頃無関心なわけだから、もう、手遅れかとも思うのだが・・・
ただ、面白いのは、

　独身者の約９割が結婚を望み、平均２人以上の子供が欲しいと考えているとの政府調査もある。

という。

海外での日本の報道では、日本では男女差別がひどくで、女性が結婚、出生を拒んでいる、といった路線のナラティブが盛んであるが、あれはでたらめなわけですね。



ググルと２０１０年のもののようであるが、

結婚する意思をもつ未婚者は９割弱で推移
　いずれは結婚しようと考える未婚者の割合は、いぜんとして高い水準にある(男性86.3％、女性89.4％)。しかし「一生結婚するつもりはない」とする未婚者はわずかに増え、男性9.4％、女性6.8％となった。態度不詳が減り、独身志向を表す未婚者が増えた形となっている。

結婚に障害となるもの「結婚資金」が増加
　結婚意思のある未婚者に、一年以内に結婚するとしたら何か障害となることがあるかをたずねたところ、男女とも「結婚資金」を挙げた人が最も多く(男性43.5％、女性41.5％)、今回これまでで最も高い割合となった。女性では「親の承諾」「親との同居や扶養」を結婚の障害と考える人が減っている。

Italian police on Monday were investigating far-right militants suspected of hanging nooses to protest Italy's first black minister Cecile Kyenge, two days after a senator compare her to an orangutan.

The nooses appeared on lampposts with posters signed by far-right group Forza Nuova in the city of Pescara where the minister for integration was visiting for a conference on immigration and citizenship.

"Immigration, the noose of the people!" read one of the slogans on the posters. Another said: "Everyone should live in their own country".

Kyenge, who is of Congolese origin, has called for a reform of Italian law to make it easier for children born to immigrant parents to acquire citizenship.

　先ほどオラウータンと人種差別的発言をされた黒人女性閣僚の訪問地の街頭に首吊りの用の縄が欠けられて、反移民のポスターが掲げられていた、と。


　このまえ偶然NHKかなにかで、、ミシシッピーバーニングをやっていましたけど、ちょっと前までは、反抗的な黒人は首つってしまうわけですね。

　で、いまでも、脅迫のために、黒人の家のまえにこの縄をかけてあった、なんてニュースがときどきある。

　イタリアでもそういった歴史があったかどうかはわからないですけど、明らかに、そういった脅迫手段ではないでしょうかね。

　若い頃、難語や文学的なわけのわからない言葉遣いに呪術的な魅力を感じていたときもあった。そんなとき、サールのSpeech Actだったか、明晰に書けなければ、理解していないんだ、といった趣旨のことを書いてあって痛く感動した覚えがある。

　それ以来、難しい言い回しや、文学的な言い回しで、知った風な口をきく人たち、あるいは、それに感動する人たちに、あまりビビらななくなった。

　もっとも、廣松渉などは難解な言い回しだが、感動した著者の一人である。
