著作権が消滅した文学作品を無料で読める電子図書館「青空文庫」。その存在が今、揺れている。政府が環太平洋経済連携協定（ＴＰＰ）の事前協議で、著作権の保護期間を現行の作者の没後50年から、米国の要求する同70年に延長する可能性が高まっているためだ。20年も延長されれば、青空文庫で今後扱える作品数が大幅に減少。青空は一転“曇り空”になってしまうのか。
「著作権の保護期間延長なんて絶対反対」「米国にすり寄るな」。著作権の保護期間延長について、ネット上では激しい反発の声が上がった。著作権の切れた小説や音楽コンテンツを扱って事業を営む企業や、文化資産のデジタルアーカイブに取り組む人々からも反対の声が上がる。なかでも、心配されているのが「青空文庫」の存在だ。
ヘイトスピーチは悪いと言うが、これは許されるのか？

名古屋市に住む幸希（こうき）さん（４１）は、一人暮らしの女性看護師だ。生まれ育った北海道から愛知県内の病院に職を得て十数年、多くの患者と出会い、命の重みを実感してきた。
だが、今年二月、東京・新大久保であったデモで、彼女が叫んだ言葉は激烈だった。
「竹島を不法占拠する韓国人を射殺しろ」「たたき出せー」。日章旗を持つ人々の列に連なり、韓国が実効支配する島根県・竹島の日本領有を訴えた。
幸希さんのような例は極端かもしれない。が 最近、女性の保守的、タカ派的な活動が目立つ。歴史好きの女性を「歴女（れきじょ）」と言うのに倣えば、「右女（みぎじょ）」とでも呼べる。
But I did want to just talk a little bit about context and how people have responded to it and how people are feeling. You know, when Trayvon Martin was first shot, I said that this could have been my son. Another way of saying that is Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago. And when you think about why, in the African- American community at least, there’s a lot of pain around what happened here, I think it’s important to recognize that the African- American community is looking at this issue through a set of experiences and a history that -- that doesn’t go away.
There are very few African-American men in this country who haven’t had the experience of being followed when they were shopping in a department store. That includes me.
And there are very few African-American men who haven’t had the experience of walking across the street and hearing the locks click on the doors of cars. That happens to me, at least before I was a senator. There are very few African-Americans who haven’t had the experience of getting on an elevator and a woman clutching her purse nervously and holding her breath until she had a chance to get off. That happens often.
And you know, I don’t want to exaggerate this, but those sets of experiences inform how the African-American community interprets what happened one night in Florida. And it’s inescapable for people to bring those experiences to bear.
The African-American community is also knowledgeable that there is a history of racial disparities in the application of our criminal laws, everything from the death penalty to enforcement of our drug laws. And that ends up having an impact in terms of how people interpret the case.
