Wax Museum:その4

娘が書いたRachel Carsonの紹介。Wax Museumではこの台詞をすべて暗記したので、かなり大変~。でもこういうスピーチの機会が与えられていることで、人前で話すことにも慣れそう。

(Click) I am Rachel Carson. Sorry about the camera. I thought you wre something else. My eyes just aren't what they used to be.

I was born May 27 1907 into a family with three children. I was the third.

As a child, I spent most of the time outdoors hoping to see the ocean. I was a bright student and a talented writer. I entered my writing in a magazine and got a silver badge which was one of the best scores. In high school I had a major in writing and a minor in biology. I loved biology. I thought about changing my major to biology. Many said that I shouldn't. But... I did anyway.

After I graduated, I went to visit a biology teacher Mary Skinker who I by then had become great friend with. After that I went to the place I always wanted to go to. The ocean. At the ocean I felt at home. I visited the ocean many many times. The times I was not at the ocean I was somewhere else researching or at home writing.

During my research time I found out about DDF a pesticide. I found out that DDT was harmful to the wild life. I worked hard to get rid of it. I wrote a book called Silent Spring about it. My work paid off and DDT was banned.

One day at my house I passed away. May my love for the earth roam forever.
