Telegraph View: The tragic events in Copenhagen prove that Britain must be prepared for an assault on its liberties

社説：コペンハーゲンでの悲劇は、英国は自由への攻撃に備えなければならないと証明しています。

The assault on a seminar about blasphemy in Copenhagen is an alarming reminder that the Charlie Hebdo attacks were not a one-off. One person has been left dead; three are injured. Reports say that up to 200 shots were fired, which suggests that things might have been even worse. The Swedish cartoonist speaking at the event, Lars Vilks, has had many death threats in the past for his caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed. Also present was the French ambassador to Denmark – all of which implies that what was being targeted was, yet again, free speech.

コペンハーゲンで起こった冒涜に関するセミナーの襲撃事件は、シャルリー・エブド襲撃事件は偶発的ではない、と思い知らせるリマインダーです。
死亡者1名、負傷者3名を出しました。
報道によれば、最高200発の弾丸が発射されたとのことで、これはもっと酷い被害が出ていた可能性を示唆しています。
同イベントで壇上に立っていたラーシュ・ヴィルクス氏（スウェーデン人漫画家）は、予言者ムハンマドの漫画を描いたために、これまでも沢山の死の脅迫を受けています。
また、駐デンマーク仏大使も出席していました。
この全てが、今回も標的は発言の自由だったということを示唆しています。

We cannot discount the possibility that this sort of thing could happen in Britain. Small-scale terrorist attacks can be launched almost spontaneously and are not logistically too difficult to put together. European Islamist terror cells have links to those on the ground in Britain: this newspaper has documented the persistent presence of terror suspects in the UK, many of whom have been shielded by human rights legislation. And this country's international terrorist threat level is currently set at severe, meaning that an attack is considered to be highly likely. Britain was a target in 2005, and it still is.

このようなことが英国で起こり得るという可能性は無視出来ません。
小規模なテロ攻撃はいつでも仕掛けられるものであり、準備もそれほど困難ではありません。
ヨーロッパのイスラム主義テロリスト・セルは英国のセルと繋がっています。
本紙も伝えた通り、英国内には常にテロ容疑者が居続け、その多くは人権法で守られています。
また、この国いる国際テロリストの脅威レベルは今のところ高とされており、これはつまり攻撃の可能性がかなり高いということです。
英国は2005年に標的となりましたが、今もそうなのです。

Therefore, the UK must be prepared. There has to be co-ordinated action across all government agencies. Those agencies must have the necessary tools to do the job, which means anti-terror legislation that makes it possible to monitor the wrongdoers, isolate them and control their movements across international borders. Yes, civil liberties are important and must be respected. But the situation is febrile. After all, we are engaged in military action against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in the Middle East – and it is that criminal organisation that gives a great deal of moral and material support to European terrorists. In short, Britons cannot disregard Paris or Copenhagen simply as tragedies that happened to other people. All democracies are at risk. The Islamists' goal is to destroy Western freedom, and the West will have to fight to defend it.

従って、英国は備えなければなりません。
省庁を超えた政府機関の協調的行動がなければなりません。
それらの政府機関には必要なツールが与えられなければならず、それは違法行為者を監視し、孤立させ、国際的な移動を制御するのを可能にする対テロ法です。
確かに市民の自由は重要であり、尊重されなければなりません。
でも、状況は危機的なのです。
結局、我々は中東でイスラム国とレバントに対する軍事行動に関与しています…また、ヨーロッパのテロリストに対して大きな勇気と物資を与えているのは、この犯罪組織なのです。
要するに、英国人はパリやコペンハーゲンの事件を他人に起こった悲劇に過ぎないと無視することは出来ないのです。
全ての民主国家が危機にさらされているのです。
イスラム国が目指しているのは西側の自由の破壊であり、西側はそれを護るために闘わなければならなくなるでしょう。
