The Number Of Homeless Students In The United States Hits A Record

More than 1.1 million students in the United States were homeless last year, a record high, according to new data released by the U.S. Department of Education.
During the 2011-12 school year, there were 1,168,354 homeless students enrolled in preschool or K-12, a 10 percent increase over the previous year. A total of 55.5 million students were enrolled in preschool or K-12 that year, meaning nearly 2 percent of all students were homeless.

The report further illustrates the widening gap between CEO pay and that of the average worker. According to the US census bureau, median household income, adjusted for inflation, was $51,017 in 2012, broadly unchanged from 2011. Wages for the average household have fallen about 9% from an inflation-adjusted peak of $56,080 in 1999. The census figures show a sharp recovery for those at the top of the wage scale as those at the bottom continue to see falls.

雇用を増やすには、GDPを増やすしかない。GDPが上がると、需要需要がD'のように外側にシフトし、賃金もw'に上がって雇用も増える。
つまり「雇用対策」などというものは意味がなく、雇用を増やすにはGDPを高めるしかないのだ。「派遣村」のような騒ぎで同情を引いても、GDPが低下するかぎり労働需要は減り、賃金は下がる。この自明の事実を認識することが、冷静な雇用論議の出発点である。
そうなのかもしれないが、じゃあ、ＧＤＰがどんどん上昇して、賃金アップする方策があるだろうか？
Professor: Studying economics can make greed seem morally acceptable

Professor Adam Grant of The Wharton School told radio host Thom Hartmann on Tuesday that the study of economics influenced how people thought and behaved.
The research at this point is not entirely conclusive. But the existing body of studies indicate that economic professors are less charitable, those who study economics become more likely to view greed as morally acceptable, and studying economics increases cheating, Grant said.
研究途中ではあるが、経済学を勉強すると貪欲は道義的に許されるものだと考え、インチキする率も増え、薄情になるのではないか、と。
ＧＤＰがあがればいいが、日本で現実に苦しんでいる貧困層について方策を素人にもわかりやすく、具体的に提示してもらえる経済学者がいるとありがたい。
とりあえず、素人的には、今後、パイがそれほど増えることはないであろうから、富裕層の有益に使っていない金を下にまわすのが、いいと思うが、それはどうなのだろうか？
