鹿嶋市内の海岸に打ちあげられたカズハゴンドウ
　茨城県鹿嶋市の下津（おりつ）海水浴場に４日午後８時ごろ、イルカの仲間、カズハゴンドウが大量に打ち上げられているのに地元の人が気づき、市役所と警察に連絡した。５日午前８時から、同市が茨城県大洗水族館などの協力を得て、延命などにかかっている。

同日午前７時ごろから、海岸を訪れたサーファーや地元の人たちが毛布や新聞、衣類などを持ち寄り、カズハゴンドウの体をおおって、海水をかけるなどしている。男性サーファーの一人は「驚いた。サーフィンどころじゃなくてみんなで手分けして水をかけている。何とか助かってほしい」と話した。

　茨城県鹿嶋市の下津（おりつ）海水浴場にイルカの仲間「カズハゴンドウ」５２頭が打ち上げられた件で、生き残った２２頭は５日夕方までに市などによって海に帰された。死んだ３０頭は砂浜に埋められた。

　現在、鯨肉、イルカ肉を食べる日本人というのは少ない。
　生き物を殺すのを何ともおもっていないわけでもない。

　保護したいというならそれも実現可能だろうが、しかし、反捕鯨イルカ団体のやり方がひどかった。子供の連れ去り問題でも、そうだが、これも日本人の団体と相談しながら、日本人が受け容れられるようなやり方をやればもっとうまくいったであろうに、頭ごなしにやるからかえって反発される。大げさな言い方になるかもしれないが、欧米の帝国主義的なやり方は中東でも東アジアでも反発されるだけだ、というのは覚えておいてもらいたい。

If the reason is an interest in traditional Japanese culture then this is sometimes seen as “odd” by not a few Japanese who themselves cannot explain to the earnest foreigner what “wabi” “sabi” and so on, mean. Then they get back to swilling down a Starbucks and listening to J pop, thinking “henna gaijin”.

Muslims in southern California claimed they have been unfairly targeted because of their religion. Now they are taking on the FBI with a new lawsuit, which they hope exposes violations of the US Constitution.
As American Muslims prepare for prayers, a fear remains that the worshiper next to them may be a spy.This is especially true in Southern California, where paid FBI informants have fractured the cohesiveness of a law abiding community.
“I’m fearful of retaliation of the FBI,” said Ali Malik, who was targeted by an FBI informant. “My wife fears it, my family fears it and I fear that the FBI is going to come down very aggressively on us.”
After Malik found out he was being spied on, he felt betrayed by his country and now he feels alienated because fellow Muslims are suspicious that he might now be a spy. The southern California native was approached by FBI informant Craig Monteilh, presumably because of his devout Muslim faith

The firm has also been writing to journalists in recent days on behalf of a member of the Libyan royal family, and it almost certainly represents governments elsewhere in the region.

Libya, for one, has used London’s PR machine before – with misleading results.

“In 1995, a UK based PR agency was paid four million pounds to try and subvert the evidence that pointed towards Libyan involvement in the Lockerbie case,” remembers Annie Machon. “And this is what has led to alternative theories about Lockerbie, although the evidence did point to the fact that Al Maghrahi and Laman Khalifa Fhimah were actually responsible. So Libya knows how to play by these rules, they know how to play the game.”

In the US, the first amendment finds its base in an underlying social confidence that extremist speech is best challenged by a society that resides upon free, accessible and open discourse. As Thomas Jefferson explained, "error of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it." In Europe, however, too many states seem to believe that their societies too weak to reject extremist speech. They are wrong. The excessive limitation of speech is not only wrong per se; in terms of pursuing civil society, it is also its own worse enemy.

後者に関しては、それでは、南極だが北極なんとか、というダッチワイフの人権も守ってあげれば、ということにもなる。
前者に関してはすでに製造・配布については禁止となっている。
で、もちろん、搾取された児童の権利を考える必要はある。そうした行為を強いられて人権が侵害されるのみならず、写真や映像が出回ることによって、長年にわたり、その児童の人権が侵害されることにもなる。
　しかし、所持そのものを禁止して、市民の自由を制限するにはそれなりの社会に与える危険性も考慮する必要がある。毒物・爆発物などの危険物ならともかく、所持と犯罪の因果関係が確立されていないのにそこまでやる必要があるか、という問題もある。
　また、例えば、いとこの女児の水着の写真がその母親から送られてきてそれを所持していた人が罪に問われるような事件も米国では報告されており、ポルノ画像の基準の問題もある。

　マッカリ氏の記事に関していえば、自分の主張したい意見だけを引っこ抜いてくるだけの相変わらずの手法であるが、英語圏ではわりに標準的な手法なのかもしれない。

　それにしても、”違い””異類””他者””異教徒”に対する恐怖というのは計り知れないものがあるようである。

だいたいナショナル・ナラティヴを書いたのは政治家と官僚だというところが日本のリベラル左翼を搾取しつつ過小評価する欧米左翼のいつもの言説戦術なのだ。そうじゃないから混乱しているのだろうに。

記事の構図とすれば、

イギリス人も自国や他国に関する歴史にうといから二重被爆を笑うような番組がでてくる、
日本人も自国や他国に関する歴史にうといから氣志團のような衣装がでてくる。
歴史が政治家と官僚によって書かれるからこうしたことになる。

せいぜい、ここでとめておけば良かった。
（もっともここまでの記述にも私は不満はある。
たぶんマクニールシは日本の歴史に関する出版物についてあまり知らない。イギリスの反応について甘い、などなど・・・）
さらに、

石原慎太郎によると外交力は核武装ということであり、日本が核武装していれば、北朝鮮による拉致はなかった、

冗談じゃない、と締めている。

石原氏の言葉が直接引用されていないから、なんとも言えないが、外交力と軍事力がワンセットである、というのはなかば、常識であろう。
これ、不思議なのは、締めくくり方で、原爆ジョークはOKか、という表題ならば、イギリスの核武装をあげて、冗談じゃない、と締めくくったほうが筋が通っている。　核武装国ではなく核非武装国に怒りが向かっている。経緯はなんにせよ、持っていない国が持とうとして冗談じゃない、とういうなら持っている国は冗談じゃないを越えて、ふざけるな、と締めくくってもよかった。

　それができないのが、残念ながら、マクニール氏の”白人”同胞への偏愛、あるいは、欧米中心主義の偏向、あるいは、”白人”宣教師的ふるまい、といったところ。
　
　ここらへん、英語圏のリベラル左翼について大いに、失望するところである。

　九条の会とか、非武装中立主義を日本人にむかって、それは結構です、すばらしい、という欧米人論者はいるが、彼等は、欧米に向かって、非武装中立や、核兵器所持の欺瞞などについていうことはほとんどない。
わかりますか？
　日本は武器をもつな、欧米は武器をもて、といっているようなものでしょう？
これなら、欧米保守の欧米も武器をもつ、日本も武器をもて、というほうがよほど、日本のことをを思ってくれている。

　国際的リベラルというのは案外少ないのです。リベラルなインターナショナリストには同調すべきところがありますが、しかし、リベラルナショナリスト、あるいは、リベラルオリエンタリスト、とでもいうべき人の方が断然多い。

　英語圏のいわゆるリベラルに警戒する所以であります。

A brawl that erupted between a student's relatives and police was the culmination of an R-rated slanging match on Facebook between "Leb" and "Aussie" students.
While education officials denied any "ongoing violence" at Hoxton Park High School in Hinchinbrook yesterday, parents and students said tensions between "Lebs" and "Aussies" had escalated in the past few years.
A 14-year-old student said that she was "jumped" on Wednesday afternoon by "10 Australian girls" who punched, kicked, scratched and spat at her.
"They were saying, 'f ... Arabs', 'you bitch', 'you slut' - everything. They said all Muslim mums with scarves can hang themselves with it," the student said.

Witness Zahra Elasmar, whose two children attend the school, said Wednesday's fight was a spillover from the racist slurs made on students' Facebook pages.
Facebook images obtained by The Daily Telegraph show derogatory comments made about other students including "lebs are rats!" .
Mrs Elasmar said she wrote to the Department of Education and Training about racism at the school and, with other parents, met with DET representatives, school staff and police liaison last month.
She said she collected 50 signatures on a petition sent to officials, but that it had fallen on deaf ears.
"The principal doesn't know how to deal with this," she said.
"What we witnessed today is not right in a multicultural country. We don't want another Cronulla [riot] at Hoxton Park."
