一昨日は町田ゼルビアの試合を観戦しました。
相手は湘南ベルマーレ
格下です。
ゼルビアは首位
ベルマーレは降格の可能性も高い17位
選手の年俸総額は
ベルマーレは６億６千万円
ゼルビアはその約倍の１２億８千万円
負ける訳ありませんよね
普通で考えれば
でも負けました。
まぁスポーツに番狂わせは付き物ですし
逆にそれが醍醐味でもあります。
相撲で言えば平幕が横綱を倒した時には
座布団が舞って大変盛り上がります。
しかし格下に負けてしまった町田ゼルビア
ショックですね。
私もがっかりしました。
が
良く考えれば
そもそも格下
なんて思った時点でヤバいですよね。
今は格下なんて言ってますが
去年までは
湘南ベルマーレはJIで
逆に格上だと思ってましたからね。
それがいつの間にか見下すようになった
これも敗因の一つのように思います。
強いチームでも
相手を舐めてかかった段階で
勝負は分からなくなる
オリンピックでもそれが良く見られましたね。
今一番その事を感じてるのはプーチンでしょうね。
１週間程度でキーウを占領するはずか
このザマですからね。
最近は逆にウクライナに攻め込まれて
パニックになってるようですが
アメリカに次ぐ軍事力を持ってすれば
ウクライナなんか瞬時に消滅させる事ができる
この傲慢さがロシアの失敗の原因
間違いなく言えるとおもいます。
しかし人間は愚かですよね。
日本では平家物語に
“驕れる人も久しからず”
そんな有名な言葉があるにも関わらず
実際には自己評価が高まり人を見下す
そんな人だらけです。
私自身もそんな時期がありましたし
逆に私が見下されて悔しい思いをした事は何度もあります。
ですから
私は社員に対しても
いつも心配するのは
成績が上がってる時です
成績が上がれば
傲慢になる
そしてそれは転落の始まり
これが分かってますからね。
私が
成績の悪い社員より
成績の良い社員に対して厳しい指導をする事が多いのは
そのためです。
見てるのは会社の利益だけではありません
社員の将来をより重視してるのです。
いずれにしても
物事が順調に行ってる時こそ
意識して謙虚になりましょう。
それが転落を防ぐ唯一の道です。
さて
町田ゼルビア
シーズン前の事を思い出してもらいたいですね。
私たちが口にしてたのは
今シーズンのＪ２転落は仕方が無い
今回はその次にＪ１に上がった時に
そこに残留するための経験を積めば良い
そう思ってましたからね
ずいぶん謙虚でしたよね
でも半年たって
首位にいるようになると
あの湘南ベルマーレも見下す
ずいぶん傲慢になったものです。
おっと言っておきますが
傲慢になったのは
チームがそうなったって話ではありませんよ。
一サポーターとしての私が傲慢だったのです。
私が傲慢になったって事は
チーム内もそうだったかも知れない
って言う勝手な想像です。
とにかく
次の試合は初心を取り戻して謙虚になって
頑張りましょう。

I watched Machida Zelvia play.
Their opponents were Shonan Bellmare,
an underdog.
Zelvia is in first place.
Bellmare is in 17th place and is likely to be relegated.

Bellmare is 660 million yen, Zelvia is about twice that, 1.28 billion yen.
There's no way they could lose, if you think about it normally.
But they did lose.
Well, upsets are a part of sports,
and that's what makes it so exciting.
In sumo, when a lower-ranked wrestler beats a yokozuna,
the cushions fly and it's very exciting.
But Machida Zelvia losing to an underdog is a shock.
I was disappointed too.
But if you think about it,
it's bad to think of them as underdogs in the first place.
Now I say they're underdogs,
but up until last year,
we thought of Shonan Bellmare as a higher-ranked team in the JI.
But this year we began to look down them
and I think this is one of the reasons they lost.
Even strong teams lose their chances of victory when they underestimate their opponents.
This was clearly seen in the Olympics.
I think Putin is the one who feels this the most right now.
They were supposed to occupy Kyiv in about a week,
but this is what happened.
Recently, they seem to be panicking because of the invasion of Ukraine,
but with a military power second only to that of the United States,
they thought that they could wipe out Ukraine in an instant.
I think it's safe to say that this arrogance is the reason for Russia's failure.
But humans are foolish, aren't they?
In Japan, there is a famous saying in the Tale of the Heike that says,
"arrogant comes before a fall,"
but in reality, there are many people who have high self-esteem and look down on others.
I myself have had a period like that,
and conversely, I have felt frustrated many times when I was looked down upon.
That's why I'm always worried about my employees when their performance improves.
When performance improves,
they become arrogant,
and I know that this is the beginning of their downfall.
That's why I often give stricter guidance to employees who perform well than those who perform poorly.
I don't just care about the company's profits.
I care more about the future of our employees.
Either way, we should be conscious of being humble when things are going well.
That's the only way to prevent us from falling.
Now, I want Machida Zelvia to remember what happened before the season.
We were saying that we couldn't avoid falling to J2 this season,
and that we could gain experience to stay there when we get promoted to J1 next time.
We were very humble, weren't we?
But after half a year,
we were in first place,
and we looked down on Shonan Bellmare.
We became very arrogant.
I should point out that it wasn't because the team became arrogant.
I was arrogant as a supporter.
I'm just imagining that the team might have been arrogant as well.
Anyway, let's do our best in the next game,
regaining our original spirit and being humble.
