JAPANESE SKATERS WIN GOLD, SILVERフィギュア羽生選手 五輪2連覇

2018年03月14日 | 爺英語

People in Japan are still excited about Saturday's men's figure skating. Yuzuru Hanyu won a historic second straight Olympic gold and Shoma Uno took silver. Hanyu's medal was the 1,000th in the history of the Winter Olympics.
Hanyu got off to a good start by landing his first two quadruple jumps. He also successfully landed two combination jumps. He was awarded high marks for other techniques and performance elements.
It was his first competition since an ankle injury in November. He became the first man in 66 years to win back-to-back Olympic golds. American Dick Button was the last male to claim consecutive golds, winning at the 1948 and 1952 Games. He congratulated Hanyu on Twitter.
Shoma Uno took the silver. He earned a higher technical score than Hanyu. Uno slipped on his first jump, but did not make any other major mistakes.
