赤い花

５月２８日（土）

庭のあちらこちら雑草に混じって赤い花が咲いている。

何時だったか上高地へ行った時、梓川の川縁に昔ながらの萬屋（よろずや）があって、

その店先で九十歳くらいのお婆さんがこの赤い花を売っていた。

そのお婆さんも名前は知らなかったが、あまりにも愛らしいので一鉢求めた。

その後は毎年、初夏を彩ってくれる。花は「姫檜扇」という。

A Red flower blooms among many  weeds of our garden.

When we visited to Kamikochi long time ago, there was traditional Yorozuya (General store) in the riverside of the Azusa River.

At the store, a very old woman sold this red flower at the storefront.
We bought the red flower as it was so lovely.　It grows at our garden every year.

The name of the red flower is HIME-HIOUGI.

山法師

５月２４日（火）

山法師が咲いている。

三人目の孫が生まれた時、真っ直ぐに、清らかに育つようにと植えた木だが

７，８メートルの高さになった。彼はこの春大学を卒業し社会人としてスタートした。

"An Japanese dogwood"(Yamaboushi) has bloomed.

We planted the tree at our garden when the third grandchild was born.
The tree became 7 or 8 meters height.
He graduated  a university this spring.

And he has begun to work as a member of society.

牡丹

５月１５日（日）

牡丹が咲いている。家に来た時は八重咲だったが数年経って一重咲きになってしまった。

最近こんな事を知った。というのは牡丹は芍薬に接ぎ木するので暫くすると芍薬に戻ってしまう事があるという。我家でもそうかもしれない・・・

でも、我家ではこれを牡丹として愛でている。

A peony(Botan) blooms in our garden.
This peony was blooming with many petals at first.

But several years passed, single fold has bloomed.  Anyway we enjoy and love it.

薔薇

５月７日（土）

ゴールデンウイークを父が丹精していた薔薇が咲いている。

父が亡くなってから４５年、この薔薇はゴーウデンウイークを必ず彩ってくれる。

家では「おじいちゃんの薔薇」と呼んでいる。

The rose which our father took a great care bloomed in our garden during the Golden Week.
45 years pass after our father has died, but this rose blooms with the beautiful colors for the every Golden Week  by all means.  Our family call it "the grandfather's rose".

姫空木

５月３日（火）

姫空木が一番の花時を迎えている。名前通り優しく雅な姿が好ましい。

次男の海外勤務の折に奥さんから預かった鉢物の内の一つで、もう十年余になる。随分大きくなったので地に下したらとも思っているが・・・・・・？

"A princess Japanese sunflower"(Hime-Utsugi) became the best florescence.
The figure which is elegant according to name.
At the time of overseas assignment of the second son family ten years ago, it was the flowerpot which we kept for his wife. 

We think that we put it to the ground as it became very big, but・・・?

小手毬

５月１日（日）

我家では毎年二百個ほどのレモンが実るが、そのレモンの木に押されて小さくなってしまった小手毬が隠れるように咲いていた。

これも母が好きだった花、六十年近く庭の一隅を占めている。

"Traditional Japanese handball grass"(Kodemarisou) blooms behind the big lemon tree.
It was the flower which our mother loved.
It blooms in the corner of our garden for 60 years.

藤

４月２８日（木）

藤が花時を迎えている。

藤はAちゃんの花。初孫のAちゃんの誕生を祝って植えたもの。

Aちゃんは此の五月に二十八歳になる。Aちゃんも優しく美しい女性に成長、嬉しい事だ。

The wisteria in our garden is at their best. The wisteria is a flower for A-chan. 

We planted it to celebrate birth of A-chan of the first grandchild.
She becomes 28 years old in May.
A-chan  grew up to the beautiful woman. We are so glad.

ドッグ・ウッド

４月２４日（日）

花水木が美しい。雨が続き花、花、花の写真を撮るチャンスを逸してしまった。

青空、少し赤みを帯びた新緑,深いローズ色の花のコントラストは格別。

An American dogwood at our garden is beautiful.
Because a rainy day continued, I have lost a chance to take a good photograph. 

The contrast of a blue sky, the slightly reddish fresh green leaves and the deep Rose-colored flower are particularly good.

釣偲ぶ

４月２０日（水）

初夏の木の間に風情を添えるよう「空中植木鉢」を作ってみた。

モダンな出来栄えで気に入っている。下に風鈴を下げれば「釣偲ぶ」になるという趣向。

I made "an aerial flowerpot" to add the taste of the early summer at　our garden.
I like the pot with modern workmanship.

This is an idea to become "Tsuri-Shinobu",if I hang a wind-bell underneath of the pot.

躑躅 （つつじ）

４月１８日（月）

父がこの家を建ててから５６年、ひととせも休むことなく、この桃色の躑躅と深い色の

躑躅は我家の春を彩ってくれる。

　深い色の躑躅は未だ咲きそろわないので、一枝、二枝伐りとって、ミスターマスダが魯山人の瓶を模して焼いた花器に活けてみた。

This pink Azalea  bloomed at the spring of my home after my father built 

this house 56 years ago.

I arranged the Azalea of deep color in the vase which Mr. Masuda made under the influence of 

the vase of Rosanjin.

鳶尾（いちはつ）

４月１７日（日）

鳶尾が咲き始めた。何時もの所に何時ものように・・・。

母が好きだった花なので、早速、仏壇に上げ、続いてリヴィングルームにも。

An Iris has begun to bloom at our garden.
The flower bloomed at the usual place as always.
As is the flower which mother liked, we put it up to a Buddhist altar promptly, 

Then in a living room also.

山吹

４月１３日（水）

山吹も咲き始めた。黄色の山吹と白山吹。どちらも密やかに咲いていて

良い風情だ。白山吹は茶花としても珍重されているようだ。

Both of Yellow Japanese mountain rose(Yamauki) and Rhodotypos scandens(Shiro-Yamabuki)have begun to bloom at our garden.
The Rhodotypos scandens seems to be valued high as flower arrangement for Tea ceremony.

菫

４月１１日（月）

菫が咲いている、一株ずつ庭のあちらこちらに可憐な姿を見せている。我家でも

以前は群生していたのだが、この頃はどこでも菫は姿を見せなくなったと聞いている。

大事にしよう。

A violet blooms in several places of  our garden now.
The violet grew in colonies before in our garden. 

We must bring up a violet carefully.

桃

４月６日（水）

末の孫娘の誕生記念に植えた桃、今年も美しい花を見せている。

彼女は此の春二十一歳、此の桃の木も本当に大きくなった。

花盛りの今、遊びに来てくれられれば嬉しいのだが未だ無理かなあ？

The peach tree which we planted in commemoration of the birth of the youngest 

granddaughter Ayumi.   The tree had a beautiful flower bloom this year.
She became 21 years old. This peach tree became really big, too.
While a flower blooms, we are glad if she comes to our home.
Is it still impossible ?

チューリップと白い花

４月４日（月）

球根を頂いてから十五年,此の春もチューリップが咲いた。

年々、花数は減り、その大きさは小さくなって来たが・・・・。

15 years pass after having the bulb of the tulip.
The tulip bloomed in spring of this year also.
The number of the flowers decreased year by year, and the size became smaller by smaller.

こちらは我家に来てから二十年、毎年、可憐な花を見せるが

名前は知らない。ハーブのようだが・・・・。

This white flower shows the pretty flower on every year for 20 years at

our garden.

However we does not know the name.   Is like the herb, but ...
