５月３０日（土）

  

裏庭の立葵が美しい。

母親がこの花を好んだという事もあって

ミセスマスダも夏の花では一番のお気に入り。

The rose mallow (tachiaoi) blooming in the backyard is beautiful.

Mother liked a rose mallow.
Mrs. Masuda likes rose mallows of the summer flower most, too.

これも裏庭で。

少し変わった花を持つ、紫陽花を二つ。

There are the hydrangea in the backyard, too.
Please see the photograph of the hydrangea making a slightly strange flower bloom.

ゆすら梅の実

５月２８日（木）

久しぶりに裏庭に行くと、ゆすらうめの実が僅かのこっていた。

鳥達のご馳走になったようだ。

When I went to the backyard , Yusura-Ume tree only had a few fruits on the branch. 

The most of fruits seemed to be ate by the birds .

紫陽花　序章。　こちらも裏庭で。

The hydrangea at our  backyard.
The season of the hydrangea will begin from now on.

小皿

５月２５日（月）

緊急事態宣言下、図らずも家に籠り陶芸に集中する時間が出来た。

主な作品は来年の干支の“丑”を多数作る事だ。

その合間に毎日御抹茶を頂く時のお菓子の小皿を作ってみた。

経木備前を魚谷清兵衛が作っていたが、それにインスパイヤーされ

薄さ２ミリぐらいの菓子小皿を作ってみた。食卓での取り皿にも使えそうだ。

Under the emergency declaration by  the government,

it is the  time to stay in the house unintentionally.

So that I can concentrate on ceramic art.
The main work is to make a lot of「the pottery ornament of "cattle" 

in Chines astrology  for  the next year」.
Beside I made the new small dish for the cake 

when I had Matcha tea every day .

 It seems to be usable for the serving plate at the dining table.

佃煮

５月２３日（土）

コロナによる自粛生活が続く。

食事にも変化が欲しくて平生は塩分コントロールの為に

控えている「佃煮」を築地「佃茂」に依頼して送ってもらった。

ミセス・マスダの父親がここの佃煮の大ファンであった。

食が進み過ぎて、太ってしまいはしないかと気になる。

Self-restraint life continues for coronavirus.
We wanted variety of daily meal and purchased Tsukudani 

of Tsukiji "Tsukumo"on internet.

"Tsukumo" was favorite food of the father of Mrs. Masuda.

オリーヴの花

５月２２日（金）

オリーブの花が咲いた。

次男が海外勤務になった時に二本のオリーブを預かった。

オリーブは種類の違う木を一緒に置かないと実がつかないというが、

以来、６，７年経ち小さな木ではあるが、毎年秋には実を付ける。

The flower of the olive bloomed at our garden .
When the second son became the overseas assignment,

 we kept two olive tree from him.
It is said that a fruit does not grow when the olive 

does not put two kind different tree  together.
Even seven years passed, olive tree is small.
It produces the fruit every year in autumn.

巣ごもり料理

５月１８日（月）

自粛暮らしも三カ月近くになると昼食のメニューも種切れ。

久しぶりにラザーニヤを作ってみた。

ミートソース・ホワイトソース・チーズ、材料はシンプルでこの辺のスーパーで

手に入るものばかりだが、板状のパスタ・ラザーニヤは無理。

コロナが始まった頃麻布のナショナルで買っておいたものがあって、これはラッキー。

When the self-restraint living was nearly three months,it was so difficult to

choice the menu for lunch .
We cooked lasagna after a long absence.
Meat sauce ,white sauce, cheese and other materials were available 

at a supermarket of the neighborhood,but it was impossible to get 

the board-formed pasta lasagna.
We bought them at National of Azabu before the corona began, and that was lucky.

　

食後のデザートにはチョコレートファッジ。

以前、孫娘からパウンドケーキ型のハーフサイズの物を御土産にもらったのだが

それが、老夫婦二人の暮らしにはとても具合が良い。

This is a Home-made dessert.

A  chocolate fudge for dessert after the meal.
We were given the half size of the pound cake  tray  

for a souvenir from a granddaughter long time ago.

 But it is well at all for the living of  old couples. 

白い花

５月１４日（木）

我家でも初夏を思わせる花々が咲き始めた。

Early summer has come, and several white flowers have begun to bloom in our garden.

紫蘭　（シラン）。　優しい紫色のものはよく見かけるが、このような白の花も

涼しげで良いもの。

"Chinese  ground  orchid"
　

海芋（カイウ）。　カラーとも言われている。

The name of this flower is called "a calla lily"

山法師（ヤマボウシ）。　ジャパニーズ・ドッグウッド。

白い四つの花弁が四方を明るくすると言って

″四照花”（シショウカ）という粋人もいるらしい。

これは次男宅の男孫の誕生記念樹。彼は今年二十二歳になる。

六メートルくらいの大樹に育った。余りの高さに写真は撮り難い。

 Japanese dogwood.
This tree was  planted  in commemoration of the birth of the grandchild. 

He becomes 22 years old this year.
The tree grew up 6 meters high.
The tree is very high, and it is difficult to take a photograph of the whole tree.

新茶

５月１２日（火）

夏も近づく八十八夜。　新茶である。

今年も母親の実家の静岡の茶問屋から初物として届けられた。

煎茶とは異なる仄かに青臭さの残る新茶独特の香りと味わいが良い。

これで七十五日長生きできるそうだが何よりこの時分になると

母親が亡くなってから２５年経つが、忘れず送ってくれる親戚の人たちの気持ちが嬉しい。

When summer approaches, it is a season of the first picked tea of this year. 

The first picked tea of this year has been given this year by the tea wholesale dealer 

of the relative of Shizuoka. 

There is a legend to be able to live long another  75 days 

when we eat a first farm products of this year.  

母の日

5月１０日（日）

今日は母の日マザースデイである。

ミセスマスダのところに長男が立派な洋菓子を持ってお祝いにやって来た。

時節柄マスクをしての短い時間であったがミセスマスダは嬉しそうであった。

長男はパソコンや掃除機の家の不具合などいつものようにチェックして帰って行った。

次男のところからは先日ヴェルサイユのクッキーが届いている。

今日は次男夫婦から優しいお祝いの電話があった。

ミセスマスダにとって今年も良い母の日だったようだ。

It is mothers day today.
The eldest son came our house for a celebration to Mrs. Masuda.
He wore a mask at this time.

He stayed our home only short time because of Corona, 

but Mrs. Masuda seemed very glad.
The eldest son checked the malfunction of the PC and the vacuum cleaner as always.
Also Mrs. Masuda had the celebration call from the second son and his wife.

It seemed to be good Mother's Day for Mrs. Masuda this year too.

５月９日（土）

芸術写真をどうぞ！

いつもの散歩道三ツ池公園も様変わり、桜が終わり緑豊かな新緑。

思わずシャッターを押した。

Usual promenade Mitsuike Park changed.
The cherry blossoms are gone.
It is the season when a green leaf color is pure.
Mr. Masuda pressed the shutter toward scenery unintentionally.

作陶

５月８日（金）

「ＳＴＡＹ　ＨＯＭＥ」で自粛生活。

ミスターマスダは時間が出来たので少し早いが来年の干支の”牛”の置物を

陶器で作り始めた。

全部で６０頭位作る予定だが第一陣の牛２０頭弱の粘土のフィギャーが

出来上がった。

これから素焼き・絵付け・本焼きとなる。

• We restrain ourselves under the policy of "STAY HOME".
  Mr. Masuda is noting to do but pottery.
• It is slightly early, but has begun to make the pottery ornament of "cattle" in Chines astrology  for  the next year.
• Mr.masuda intend to make 60 cattle.
  
• The first 20 of cattle are half way on the production now.

レモンの花

５月７日（木）

丈５０センチほどの鉢植えのレモン、２０年ほどの間に

５メートル近い大樹となって、毎年２００個ほどのレモンが実る。

初夏の日差しを受けて今年も沢山の花が咲き始めた。

A potted little lemon tree grew up to the tree of 5 meters 

in height during approximately 20 years.
There was the harvest of approximately 200 lemons from the tree.
The tree caught the sunlight of the early summer 

and many flowers had begun to bloom.

何という花なのだろうか？

上高地へ行った時,街道沿いの古い立派な店構えの

萬屋　（よろずや）の店先で９０歳くらいのお婆さんがこの花の鉢を売っていた。

その後、この時期、忘れずに可憐な花を見せてくれる。

What flower is this?
When we went to Kamikochi, an old woman of around 90 years old 

sold the pot of this flower at the storefront of Yorozuya  

of the old excellent look of a shop along the way. 

This plant makes a pretty flower bloom by all means afterwards 

when season comes.

ミートパイ

５月６日（水）

今日のランチはミートパイ。

シドニーに住んでいた頃、イギリス人の友人に教わった。

彼女はグランマが作ってくれるこのミートパイが大好物だったそうだ。

「おふくろの味」ならぬ「グランマの味」

家でも息子たちの好物だった。

Today's lunch was a meat pie.
When we lived in Sydney, Mrs. Masuda was taught it by a British friend.
She seemed to love this meat pie which her Granma made.
Our sons liked this pie too.

野蕗とトンボ

５月６日（月）

庭の梅の木や楓の木の下が野蕗で一杯になってしまった。

大きく伸びた蕗は伽羅蕗や胡麻和えになって食卓に。

成長するのを待って、また調理しようと三分の一ほどは残した。

花ばかり写してもと、その残した蕗を撮ってみた。

A lot of butterbur grows under the plum and the maple of our garden.
The butterbur can be cooked "the kyara-buki boiled in soy sauce" 

and "the goma-ae" and they are served for our dining table.
As we could cook again if the butterbur which we cut grew up.
So that we left approximately one-third butterbur.
We always introduced the flowers of our garden, but want
to introduce butterbur today. 

紅葉の種子はトンボとかヘリコプターとか言われている。

「飛種」と言うのであろう、この形はなるべく遠くへ飛ぶため。

The seed of the maple is said to be a dragonfly or a helicopter.
This form (structure) intend to fly as far as possible.

牡丹

５月３日（日）

牡丹が咲いた。

今年は花が少し小さいようだがまだまだ蕾が

沢山見えるので、暫くは幸せが続く。

The peony bloomed.
Some flowers seem to be small this year.
As there are a lot of buds, it will continue blooming still more.
