English after Japanese
70年前の1944年10月20日（ドゥラグ町では19日を採用）、レイテ島パロ市とドゥラグ町にマッカーサー率いる米軍が上陸、この後、レイテ島は、米軍と日本軍の激しい戦闘の場となり、多くの命が失われました。
今日は、ドゥラグ町でこの70周年を記念する式典が開催され、参加してきました。
今回の災害による壊滅的な被害は、極めて悲劇的です。しかし、現在、日本人、アメリカ人、フィリピン人、そして世界中の人々が、このレイテ島で、ともに同じ方向に向かって必死に活動をしていることを思うと、この70年間で確かに社会は良くなっているのだと感じます。70年後を生きる人たちは、2014年より社会は良くなっていると感じてくれるのでしょうか。気になるところです。

It was in October 20, 1944 (October 19 in Dulag) that American soldiers headed by General MacArthur landed in Palo and Dulag. Many lives were lost due to the battles between Japanese soldiers and American soldiers in Leyte that time.
Today we have participated in a ceremony for this 70th anniversary in Dulag, Leyte.
The disaster “Haiyen” itself was nothing more than a tragedy. But when we see that Japanese, American, Filipino and many other people with varieties of nationalities and cultures are working together for a common goal in this island now, we cannot help but think that the society is surly moving forward compared to 70 years ago. We wonder if people in 70 years later will feel the same.
