フィリピン超大型台風被害 救援活動報告 Jun.6

学校の修復を担うのは、地域のお父さんたち。ある男性は、「今、僕の子どもは4歳だけど、小学校に入学したら、お父さんが、この教室を直したと言うんだ。」と誇らしげに話してくれた。教育を再生するだけではなく、被災された人々の折れかけた心を再生していくことが大切だと学んだ。

it is mainly the fathers in the community who participate in this school rehabilitation project. One father shared a story. "My child is now 4 years old. but when he becomes the age to enter this elementary school, I will tell him that I was the one who rehabilitated his school." We have learnt that it is important to rehabilitate not only classrooms but also the heart of the people who lost confidence in their lives.

気がつくと、子どもたちも、率先して、家の資材を運ぶ手伝いを行っていた。危ないから、「出て行くように」と言いたくもなるが、その表情は、家がついにできる嬉しさで満ち溢れている。

We noticed that even kids were helping to carry shelter materials. We felt like saying to keep out to avoid denser, but their faces were full of happiness since now they knew their houses would be built finally.

6月頃から雨季に、8月頃からは台風の時期に入るので、それまでになんとか家を建てる必要がある。毎日、朝6時から日が沈むまで、活動が続く。

Usually, rainy season starts on June and Typhoon season on August. We need to construct houses by that time. Everyday, except 2 days off a week, our activities continues from 6am till sunset.

元々あった教室は、材質もサイズもデザインもバラバラ。だから、窓のサイズ１つとっても、現在の教育省の基準に合わせて行く必要がある。この教室は、元々窓が大きすぎたので、小さくする必要がある。実は、新たに建築するより、修復の方が難しい。

The materials, sizes and even designs in the original classrooms are totally different depending on constructed times and contractors. Therefore, we need to adjust even the size of window in accordance with the standard of DepEd( department of education) like this work. The original one was too big. Actually, it is more difficult to rehabilitate than constructing totally new ones.

レイテ島ドゥラッグ町ダカイ村で、頑丈な家の建築が次々と進んでいる。
6人の大工で、1軒あたり3日～5日で完成する。
