【路上の子どもたち-Children on the streets】(2)

都市化が進むマニラですが、その傍らで多くの路上の子どもたちが生まれています。フィリピンにおいて義務教育は「無償」とされていますが、制服代や学用品、交通費、課外活動費等が払えず、多くの子どもたちが、通学を断念しています。また、そもそも路上の子どもたちの多くは、出生証明さえないため、政府の統計にも出てくることはありません。

私たち認定NPO法人アイキャンは、一人ひとりの路上の子どもたちに、生まれてきた証明（出生証明）を確保し、奨学金等を提供することで、子どもたちを学校に戻す活動を行っています。この活動を継続するためには、皆様からのご理解が不可欠です。ぜひ、1日30円から開始できるマンスリーパートナーになってください。

都市化が進むマニラですが、その傍らで多くの路上の子どもたちが生まれています。フィリピンにおいて義務教育は「無償」とされていますが、制服代や学用品、交通費、課外活動費等が払えず、多くの子どもたちが、通学を断念しています。また、そもそも路上の子どもたちの多くは、出生証明さえないため、政府の統計にも出てくることはありません。

More children on the streets were produced in the urbanized Metro Manila. It is said "free" for compulsory education in the Philippines, but many children have no choice but to give up their education due to "hidden costs" such as for uniforms, school supplies, project fees, transportation and so on. Moreover, many children on the street even do not have birth certificates; hence they are invisible in the government statistics.

We have been providing services to register those children and school supplies/ tuition fees in order for them to go back to schools. Please support this initiatives.

【ごみ処分場の子どもたち-Children in dumpsite community】

15年前の2000年7月10日、フィリピン最大のごみ処分場パヤタスごみ処分場では、ごみ山が崩れ、隣接する家に住む数百人が生き埋めになり亡くなる事故が起こりました。

ごみ山は今日も拡大を続け、人々はその傍らで生活を送っています。そしてアイキャンもなんとか今日まで生き残っています。

It’s been 15 years since the landslide from Payatas dumpsite killed more than 200 people(July 10, 2000). The dumpsite continues to grow, while people continue to spend a daily life. And ICAN still survive here.

【スタッフ能力強化-Capacity Building of Staff】

English after Japanese (InterAction Forum 2015 / FEMA / OFDA)

アイキャンプロジェクトコーディネーター福田が、ジャパンプラットフォーム（JPF）の能力強化研修の一環として、米国のワシントンD.C.で開催されたアメリカ最大のネットワークNGO組織主催「InterAction 2015」に25か国からの約1,000人とともに参加しました。

その後、FEMA(アメリカ合衆国緊急事態管理庁）、US-Japan Council（米日カウンシル）、アメリカ合衆国国際開発庁(USAID)の国外災害支援を担当するOFDA、連邦議会（Capitol Hill）等での意見交換、表敬訪問を行いました。

これらの研修により、組織としての視野をより一層広げるとともに、世界のNGOとのネットワークを拡大することができました。儀尽力いただきましたジャパンプラットフォーム、Mercy Corps、 JPモルガンの皆さま、ありがとうごいざいました。

アイキャンでは、今後もスタッフの人財育成を通じて、プロジェクトの質とアカウンタビリティを高めていきます。

Hiro, our Project Coordinator, has participated in “InterAction Forum 2015” together with around 1,000 participants from 25 countries. This forum was organized by the biggest network NGO in U.S., InterAction and this visit is a part of Capacity Building Program of Japan Platform or JPF.

Discussions and courtesy calls in FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency), US-Japan Council, Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance of USAID, Capitol Hill and other agencies were also conducted.

These opportunities broaden our perspectives and expanded our international network as an organization. We would like to express our deep appreciation to JPF, Mercy Corps and JPMorgan.

We have received a donation from Osaka Community Foundation "Save Street Children Fund" for “ICAN’s Children Center” where children used to be on the streets live with care and love. This foundation has established as the first community foundation in Japan and was also a partner of ICAN in a rehabilitation project from typhoon Sendong in Cagayan De Oo City, 2011. Thank you for this partnership.
