2004年の元旦メッセージ

私は毎年元旦に、私の友人知人に年賀状の代わりに年賀メールを送信しています。年賀状を贈るべきと思いつつも、全員に年賀状をお送りするのは実質的に不可能といえ、その場合に生じる不公平を避けたいと思っていますし、やはり一人でも多くの方に新年のご挨拶をしたいと思います。

明日、2005年元旦にも、例年同様のメッセージを皆様にお送りします。そして、ブログにも掲載しようと思いますが、2004年内に始めてお会いした方からすれば昨年の内容をご存知ないわけで、その説明から入ることになるメッセージの理解に苦しむ可能性があると思いました。そして、１年前のメッセージの内容をはっきりと覚えている人も珍しいと思います。

そこで、ここに去年の内容を添付致します。
2005年バージョンもご期待下さい！

皆様、明けましておめでとうございます。
元ゴールドマン・サックス、元マイクロソフトの、たっくこと岡本＠アフィア（株）でございます。

昨年で私は四半世紀（25歳）を向かえ、マイクロソフト（株）からの退職、アフィア（株）の設立、多くの資格試験への短期挑戦、（数日前に）初めての点滴、など「自分との戦い」が多い年でした。大学時代から夢見ていた起業を社会人4年目にして実現できたことが、今年最大のハードルであり、最大の喜びでもあったと思います。

2003年、皆様にとってどのような年だったでしょうか。

昨年は「飛躍の年」というテーマで未知の可能性を追求し、大海原へ帆を揚げる年にするよう心掛けていました。そして今年は、

「結果の年」

にしたいと思っています。

独立すれば結果がすべて。2004年、私は結果を残す年にします。一年後のご報告、ご期待ください。

2004年が皆様にとって幸せ多き年となりますよう心より祈念申し上げます。
本年も、ご指導ご鞭撻の程よろしくお願い申し上げます。

Dear All,

Happy 2004! I trust all is well with you and your family.
In the spirit of the times and for your convenience I have condensed
Christmas cards and New Year greetings into a single message...

This past year has been full of new discoveries,
both of the universe out there and the world within.
For those who have not heard from me in a while,
I left Microsoft as of May and founded Afia Corporation in June.
Starting a company had been at the top of my mind since college,
and the actualization of a long-held dream holds wonders
no words can truly express. I would highly recommend it!

Having left the corporate greenhouse, I feel that results will speak
loudest and thus plan to make 2004 "A year of results".
At the same time next year I plan to report those results to you;
you are thus the judge and jury of my annual performance.
I would love to hear your aspirations for the new year as well,
and how you are doing otherwise.
