オリンピックの最中でこれに関する記事が連日新聞紙上をにぎわしています。　8月6日のThe Japan Timesの記事に「Kitajima helps Japan to relay silver」と言う記事がありました

100、200メートル平泳ぎで3連を逸した北島選手ですが、400メートル・メドレーリレーで日本チームを銀メダルに導いたとの記事です

その記事の抜粋：

ここでthree-peatを調べてみました；

 A Three-peat is a portmanteau of the words three and repeat, which has been trademarked for commercial use by retired basketball head coach Pat Rily. It is used either as a verb or noun used in American sports to refer to winning a third championship in a row.

ということですが、これは3連覇の時だけ使われるようで、たとえば8連覇の時使われるかというとそうでもないようです。　これに関し次の一文が最後のありました。
