Asos said despite the credit crisis its customers are showing no signs of tightening their belts, with the online fashion retailer posting a 107pc surge in interim revenues.
信用収縮にも拘らず、ASOS客は財布の紐を締める気配すらない、とファッション・オンラインショップのASOSは、売上高107%増という中間決算を発表した。
Sales jumped to ￡65.7m as the website's 953,000 customers increased their spending on shiny leggings and babydoll dresses. Asos attributed the 68pc leap in pre-tax profits to ￡4.1m to more high-street labels being offered on the internet site, alongside its own brand. Karen Miller, Whistles, Warehouse and Kookai sell their products to Asos at wholesale prices, and Asos now has nearly 700 brands on offer.

Chief executive Nick Robertson said: "Online customers would rather shop from a few places. Every site is different and some have passwords, so a one-stop shop on the internet works better."

He added online shopping now represents an estimated 5pc of the retail market, with predictions it could double in the next two to three years. Commenting on sales for the seven weeks to November 16 rising 104pc year on year, he said: "If there was going to be any impact [from the credit crisis] we would have seen it."

Asos currently offers 19,400 fashion items on sale, a 238pc rise compared to last year. It revealed it has ￡8.9m of cash in the bank and Mr Robertson said although it pays no dividend currently, this policy is "under review".

Stockbroker Singer said: "Overall this is an excellent update from Asos and we see scope for forecasts to edge up slightly." The shares rose 25 ミ 10pc ミ to 282p in lunchtime trading.

昼頃の取引では、株価は25ペンス（10%）上昇して282ペンスとなった。
