フィリピンでは、1934年には国土の約5割であった森林面積が、森林破壊によって1990年には約2割にまで減少しました。その後、僅かに上昇（約2.5割）しているものの、現在でも森林破壊は、フィリピンにおいて大きな問題となっています。
先住民の人々にとって、森林の減少は、食糧の減少や自然災害からの脅威に直結します。そこで、アイキャンでは、ミンダナオ島先住民の村で、環境教育と植林活動を行っています。

Forest areas in the Philippines which had been around 50% in 1934 was decreased to around 20% in 1990. At present, although a slight increase to 25% can be observed, still it is regarded as one of the main issues of the country.
For indigenous people who live in mountains, it directly affects their daily lives. ICAN is conducting environment education and tree planting activities in indigenous communities of Mindanao.
