この2日間で、アイキャンの農業担当による生計向上初期調査を14のバランガイで終えた。
ドラッグ町を含め、この周辺の地域の人々の生計の糧は、約8割が農業、約1割が漁業、約1割が（政府機関や会社等での）雇用となっている。
この農業は、米や野菜の栽培をもとに生計を立てている人と、ココナッツをもとに生計を立てている人の2つに分かれる。
前者では、種や肥料を購入できないために、今植えることができないでいる人々がいる。言うまでもなく、今植えられないと、4月頃の収穫時期に、収穫するものは何もない。そして、その時期には政府やNGOから食料が提供されることもない。
後者のココナッツは、壊滅的被害を受けている。見渡す限りのココナッツの木はなぎ倒されているが、植えても育つのに10年から15年かかる。ココナッツをもとにした収入はもう当分見込めない。
政府やNGOからの食糧の提供が少しでも残っているうちに、一刻も早く収入源を作っていく活動を開始しなければいけない。
【緊急募金】
フィリピン中部の島を横断した超大型の台風30号（ハイエン）は、1,600万人を超える被災者を出しました。これに対して、アイキャンでは、これまでの20年間のフィリピンでの活動経験を活かし、緊急救援活動を実施しています。

We have completed an initial assessment on livelihood for 2 days in 14 brgys of Dulag by an agriculturalist of ICAN.
The means of livelihood around this area including municipality of Dulag are 80% from agriculture, 10 % from fishing and 10 % from employed.
The agriculture is composed of rice/vegetables and coconuts.
In the former, there are people who cannot plant it due to financial problem to purchase seeds and fertilizers. Not to mention, it means they will have no harvest in April. Of course, there will be no provision of foods from Government or NGOs by that time.
Regarding the latter, coconuts have been severely damaged and it is expected it will require 10 to 15 years to grow enough. People cannot expect income from them for a long time.
Therefore, it is very important that we start livelihood while GO and NGO still provide foods.
