伝道者の書１２章

あなたの若い日に、あなたの創造主を思い起こしなさい！
悪い日が来て、年が近づいた時、あなたはこう言うであろう。
「私にはそれらの中になんの楽しみもない。」
Remember then thy Creator in the days of thy youth, before the evil days come, and the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say: 'I have no pleasure in them';
12:1あなたの若い日に、あなたの造り主を覚えよ。悪しき日がきたり、年が寄って、「わたしにはなんの楽しみもない」と言うようにならない前に、 

2 太陽と光と月と星が暗くなり、雨の後に雲が帰る前に
2 Before the sun, and the light, and the moon, and the stars, are darkened, and the clouds return after the rain;
12:2また日や光や、月や星の暗くならない前に、雨の後にまた雲が帰らないうちに、そのようにせよ。 

3 その日、家の番人達は震え、力ある者は身をかがめ、挽き手達は、その数が少ないので止め、外を見る者は窓の中が暗くなる。
3 In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out shall be darkened in the windows,
12:3その日になると、家を守る者は震え、力ある人はかがみ、ひきこなす女は少ないために休み、窓からのぞく者の目はかすみ、 

4 挽く音が低くなる時、戸は通りで閉ざされ、人は鳥の声によって立ち上がり、音楽の娘達はみな低くなる。
4 And the doors shall be shut in the street, when the sound of the grinding is low; and one shall start up at the voice of a bird, and all the daughters of music shall be brought low;
12:4町の門は閉ざされる。その時ひきこなす音は低くなり、人は鳥の声によって起きあがり、歌の娘たちは皆、低くされる。 

5 また、彼らが高きところにあるものを恐れ、道におののく時、アーモンドの木は花を咲かせ、いなごは身をひきずり、ケープベリーは枯れる。なぜなら、人は長い家に帰り、弔問客が通りを歩き回るからです。
5 Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and terrors shall be in the way; and the almond-tree shall blossom, and the grasshopper shall drag itself along, and the caperberry shall fail; because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets;
12:5彼らはまた高いものを恐れる。恐ろしいものが道にあり、あめんどうは花咲き、いなごはその身をひきずり歩き、その欲望は衰え、人が永遠の家に行こうとするので、泣く人が、ちまたを歩きまわる。 

6 銀のひもは裂け、金の鉢は砕け、水差しは泉で砕け、ろくろは砕けて穴に落ちる。
6 Before the silver cord is snapped asunder, and the golden bowl is shattered, and the pitcher is broken at the fountain, and the wheel falleth shattered, into the pit;
12:6その後、銀のひもは切れ、金の皿は砕け、水がめは泉のかたわらで破れ、車は井戸のかたわらで砕ける。 

7 塵はもとのように地に帰り、霊はこれを与えた神に帰る。
7 And the dust returneth to the earth as it was, and the spirit returneth unto God who gave it.
12:7ちりは、もとのように土に帰り、霊はこれを授けた神に帰る。 

8 「虚栄の虚栄である。」と、コヘレトは言う。
8 Vanity of vanities, saith Koheleth; all is vanity.
12:8伝道者は言う、「空の空、いっさいは空である」と。

9 コヘレトは賢いばかりでなく、民に知識を教えました。彼は熟考し、多くの箴言を探し出し、整理した。
9 And besides that Koheleth was wise, he also taught the people knowledge; yea, he pondered, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.
12:9さらに伝道者は知恵があるゆえに、知識を民に教えた。彼はよく考え、尋ねきわめ、あまたの箴言をまとめた。 

10 コヘレトは喜びの言葉、まことに正しく書かれた言葉を正しく書きしるした。
10 Koheleth sought to find out words of delight, and that which was written uprightly, even words of truth.
12:10伝道者は麗しい言葉を得ようとつとめた。また彼は真実の言葉を正しく書きしるした。

11 賢者の言葉は槍のようであり、また、釘をよくとめたように、一人の羊飼いから与えられるものだ。
11 The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails well fastened are those that are composed in collections; they are given from one shepherd.
12:11知者の言葉は突き棒のようであり、またよく打った釘のようなものであって、ひとりの牧者から出た言葉が集められたものである。 

12 さらに、わが子よ！戒められなさい！多くの書を作っても、尽きることがない。そして、多くの勉強は肉体の疲労だ。
12 And furthermore, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
12:12わが子よ、これら以外の事にも心を用いよ。多くの書を作れば際限がない。多く学べばからだが疲れる。

13 事の終わりは、すべて聞いたとおり、神を畏れ、その戒めを守ることである。これが人間のすべてだからだ。
13 The end of the matter, all having been heard: fear God, and keep His commandments; for this is the whole man.
12:13事の帰する所は、すべて言われた。すなわち、神を恐れ、その命令を守れ。これはすべての人の本分である。 

14 神は、すべての隠れた事物について、それが善であろうと悪であろうと、すべてのわざわいを裁きにかけられるからである。
14 For God shall bring every work into the judgment concerning every hidden thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil. 
12:14神はすべてのわざ、ならびにすべての隠れた事を善悪ともにさばかれるからである。

12:1あなたの若い日に、あなたの造り主を覚えよ。悪しき日がきたり、年が寄って、「わたしにはなんの楽しみもない」と言うようにならない前に、 
12:2また日や光や、月や星の暗くならない前に、雨の後にまた雲が帰らないうちに、そのようにせよ。

12:13事の帰する所は、すべて言われた。すなわち、神を恐れ、その命令を守れ。これはすべての人の本分である。 
12:14神はすべてのわざ、ならびにすべての隠れた事を善悪ともにさばかれるからである。
