オバデヤの幻
エドムについて、主なる神はこう言われます。
私達は主からのメッセージを聞き、大使が諸国の間に遣わされました。
「あなたがたは立ち上がり、彼女と戦って立ち上がろう。」
2 見よ！わたしはあなたを諸国の中で小さくし、あなたは非常に軽んじられる。
3 高い所に住み、岩の裂け目に住む者よ！あなたの心の高ぶりはあなたを惑わし、『誰が私を地に落とすだろうか。』と心の中で言っている。
4 あなたは自分の巣を鷲のように高くし、星の間に設けても、わたしはそこからあなたを引き降ろす。と主は言われます。
5 もし盗人があなたのもとに来たならば、夜、強盗が来たならば、あなたはどうして断ち切られたのか。彼らは飽きるまで盗みをしないであろうか。もしぶどう狩りをする者があなたのところに来たら、彼らはぶどうを摘み取る者を残して行かないではないか。
6 エサウはいかにして探し出されるのか。
その隠し場所はいかにして探し出されるか。
7 あなたの同盟の人々はみな、あなたを国境に導き、あなたと仲よくしていた人々は、あなたを惑わし、あなたに逆らい、あなたのパンを食べる者は、あなたに罠をしかけ、その中に分別のない者がある。
8 主は言われます。
「わたしはその日、エドムから知恵者を滅ぼし、エサウの山から思慮分別のある者を滅ぼさないであろうか。
9 テマンよ！あなたの力ある者は惑わされ、みな殺されて、エサウの山から絶たれるであろう。
10 あなたの兄弟ヤコブに行った暴虐のために、恥があなたをおおい、あなたはとこしえに断たれるであろう。
11 あなたが離れて立っていた日、よそ者がその物を運び出し、外国人がその門に入り、エルサレムにくじを引いた日、あなたは彼らの一人となりました。
12 しかし、あなたはその災の日に、あなたの兄弟の日を見つめてはならない。
また、その滅びの日にユダの子孫達を喜び、悩みの日に誇らしげに語りかけてはならない。
13 あなたはその災の日にわが民の門に入るべきではなく、また、その災の日にその苦難を見つめ、その災の日にその物質に手を触れるべきでない。
14 あなたはその逃げる者を断ち切るために、十字路に立つべきではなく、その悩みの日に残る者を引き渡してはならない。

21 救い主はシオンの山に上って、エサウの山を裁き、その国は主のものとなる。

3 あなたの心の高慢は自分自身を欺いた。あなたは岩の裂け目に住み、高い所を住まいとし、「だれが私を地に引きずり降ろせようか。」と心のうちで言っている。
4 あなたが鷲のように高く上っても、星の間に巣を作っても、わたしはそこから引き降ろす。―主の御告げ―
5 盗人があなたのところに来れば、夜、荒らす者が来れば、あなたは荒らされ、彼らは気のすむまで盗まないだろうか。ぶどうの収穫をする者があなたのところに来るなら、彼らは取り残しの実を残さないだろうか。
6 ああ、エサウは捜し出され、その宝は見つけ出される。
7 あなたは国境まで送り返し、あなたの親しい友があなたを征服し、あなたのパンを食べていた者が、あなたの足の下にわなをしかける。それでも彼はそれを悟らない。

16 あなたがわたしの聖なる山で飲んだように、すべての国々も飲み続け、飲んだり、すすったりして、彼らは今までになかった者のようになるだろう。
17 しかし、シオンの山には、のがれた者がいるようになり、そこは聖地となる。ヤコブの家はその領地を所有する。
18 ヤコブの家は火となり、ヨセフの家は炎となり、エサウの家は刈り株となる。火と炎はわらに燃えつき、これを焼き尽くし、エサウの家には生き残る者がいなくなる、と主は告げられた。

The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom: We have heard a message from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the nations: 'Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.'
2 Behold, I make thee small among the nations; thou art greatly despised.
3 The pride of thy heart hath beguiled thee, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, thy habitation on high; that sayest in thy heart: 'Who shall bring me down to the ground?'
4 Though thou make thy nest as high as the eagle, and though thou set it among the stars, I will bring thee down from thence, saith the LORD.
5 If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night--how art thou cut off!--would they not steal till they had enough? If grape-gatherers came to thee, would they not leave some gleaning grapes?
6 How is Esau searched out! How are his hidden places sought out!
7 All the men of thy confederacy have conducted thee to the border; the men that were at peace with thee have beguiled thee, and prevailed against thee; they that eat thy bread lay a snare under thee, in whom there is no discernment.
8 Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, destroy the wise men out of Edom, and discernment out of the mount of Esau?
9 And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one may be cut off from the mount of Esau by slaughter.
10 For the violence done to thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.
11 In the day that thou didst stand aloof, in the day that strangers carried away his substance, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.
12 But thou shouldest not have gazed on the day of thy brother in the day of his disaster, neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.
13 Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of My people in the day of their calamity; yea, thou shouldest not have gazed on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity.
14 Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.
15 For the day of the LORD is near upon all the nations; as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee; thy dealing shall return upon thine own head.
16 For as ye have drunk upon My holy mountain, so shall all the nations drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and swallow down, and shall be as though they had not been.
17 But in mount Zion there shall be those that escape, and it shall be holy; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.
18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken.
19 And they of the South shall possess the mount of Esau, and they of the Lowland the Philistines; and they shall possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria; and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.
20 And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel, that are among the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath, and the captivity of Jerusalem, that is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the South.
21 And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD'S.
