Takasago Big Friendly Jazz Orchestra a big friendly hit
大きな友情のヒット 高砂ビッグ・フレンドリー・ジャズ・オーケストラ
The free concert held by the Takasago Big Friendly Jazz Orchestra at Kernot Hall on the weekend has been hailed a huge success, with the talented young musicians receiving a standing ovation for their performance.
週末Kernot Hallにて高砂Big Friendly Jazz Orchestraによる無料コンサートが行われ、才能ある若いミュージシャンの演奏に対してスタンディング・オベーションが起こるという大成功の歓迎を受けた。

Latrobe City mayor, Councillor Bruce Lougheed said the concert attracted around 300 people.
ラトローブ市長 Councillor Bruce Lougheedはコンサートには約３００人が参加したと語った。
"Not only were the Japanese musicians outstanding, but the accompanying bands from Lowanna College and Latrobe City Youth Band impressed the audience with their musical talents too. The crowd were enthusiastic with their praise and showed their enjoyment by standing and clapping.
日本からのミュージシャンが抜群だっただけでなく、共演したLowanna Collegeバンド と Latrobe City Youth バンドもその音楽的才能を聴衆に印象づけた。聴衆は熱烈な賞賛を立ち上がって拍手することによって表現した。
"The Japanese musicians' performances during their stay here, certainly exceeded our expectations. Those who attended the concerts marvelled at the way these young people could connect with the audience," Cr Lougheed explained.
「日本のミュージシャンが滞在中のパフォーマンスは我々の期待以上でした。コンサートに参加した人は日本の若い人が聴衆と気持ちが通じたことに驚嘆した。」とCr Lougheed氏は説明した。
"One of the highlights was the joint performance with the Latrobe City Youth Band for the song 'September' by Maurice White. It got a magnificent reception and really highlighted the unity of the two cities with the youth communicating through the universal language of music, despite language barriers.
ハイライトのひとつはLatrobe City Youth BandとのMaurice Whiteの「September」の曲の合同演奏でした。それは言葉の障壁を乗り越えて音楽という共通の言葉を通じての若人が理解しあうということで二つの市が一体化した真に特筆すべき極上の歓迎でした。
"As a reminder of the importance and value of our sister city relationship, this concert pulled out all the stops. The visiting musicians have been wonderful ambassadors for their city and they had the power to bring people together regardless of age, gender, social status and nationality," Cr Lougheed said.
「我々の姉妹都市関係の重要さを思い起こすこととして、このコンサートは全ての停滞を引き出した。来訪したミュージシャン達は彼らの市にとっての素晴らしい大使です。彼らは年齢や、性別、社会的地位、国籍に関係なく人々を一緒にする力を持っていました。」とCr Lougheed氏は語った。
Latrobe's international relations officer, Yuki Poole said that the whole experience was magical to all who were there.
Latrobeの国際関係係員のユキ・ポールさんは全ての経験はそこにいた人にとって全て魔法のようでしたと語った。
"There were some tears in the eyes of the audience as they were dazzled by the band's performance. Kernot Hall was filled with joy, harmony and peace through the power of music.
「バンドのパフォーマンス(演奏)に感嘆して聴衆の目に涙がありました。Kernot Hallは音楽の力を通じた喜び、ハーモニー、そして平和で満たされていました」
"The host families had a rewarding experience with their Takasago students who stayed with them over the weekend. They found their guests to be courteous, friendly and thrilled to have the opportunity to share their love of music. The farewell morning was a very moving experience and proved how bonds can be formed despite differences in language and culture," Ms Poole said.
「高砂生が週末を通して滞在したホストファミリーは価値ある経験をしました。彼らのゲスト(高砂生)が礼儀正しく、友情的でワクワクして音楽を愛する気持ちを分かち合う機会を持てました。お別れの朝はとても感動的な経験でした。言葉や文化が違っていても絆が得られることを見ることになりました。」とポールさんは語った。
Cr Lougheed underlined the importance of the continuing sister city relationship.
Cr Lougheed氏は姉妹都市関係を続けることの重要性を強調しました。
"Our links with Takasago were showcased not just through music this weekend but through friendship, sharing of culture and relishing the similarities between the two nations. Those in the community who question the sister city relationship have underestimated the power of youth and the difference that a yearning for cultural exploration and connection can make to a young mind," Cr Lougheed concluded.
「高砂との我々の連携は単にこの週末の音楽や友情を通じてだけでなく、文化の共有、二つの国家間の類似性を楽しむことなどで示されました。共同体の中で姉妹都市関係に疑問を持つ方は青春期の力と文化的な探査と接続の切望が若い心に作ることができる違いを過小評価してました。」とCr Lougheed氏は締めくくった。
