日本が世界２位の経済大国だと言われていた３０年ほど前
私たち日本人は勤勉だからそうなった
と誰もが信じて疑いませんでした。
当時の営業会社は
売上至上主義の会社ばかりでした。
地獄の合宿
なんてセミナーが注目されてましたが
とにかく根性、根性
それが支配していました。
ただ
そんな時に
ある親戚のお通夜で
参列者の一人が私に語った事
これは強烈で
今でも印象に残っています。
その方は当時ドイツの企業に勤める優秀なビジネスマンでしたが
私にこう言ったのです。
“川端君、あなたは会社を起こしたばかりだから一言アドバイスするね”
って話から始まりました。
内容は
日本社会が大きく勘違いしてる事があって
これがいずれ日本に大きな悪影響を及ぼすから会社を経営するなら
それを意識した方が良いよ
って話でした。
そして私が衝撃を受けた言葉は
“日本人は勤勉でも何でもない、社会が縦社会だから皆働いてるふりをしてるだけ
この国は効率の悪い国だよ”
でした
その話をすると
大体の日本人は不快になるので
あえて封印してますが
当時私は若かったので
受け止めてくれるだろうと思って言った訳です。
有難い言葉でしたが
私自身日本人としての誇りもありましたので
その言葉をそのまま受け止めた訳ではありません。
ただ
心の中にはしっかり残ってはいました。
であれから３２年
その方の言葉は見事に証明されましたね。
昨年のＧＤＰの統計が発表されましたが
日本はドイツに抜かれました。
これまではアメリカ中国は日本より人口が多い訳で
どこかそれで納得してる所がありましたが
ドイツは日本よりはるかに人口が少ないですから
さすがに日本人が優秀だと勝手に錯覚してた
この事を私自身は思い知らされました。
しかもこのドイツ
年間の労働者の勤務時間は
日本よりはるかに少ないのです。
1363時間だそうです。
それに対して日本は1607時間
つまり
人口も一人当たりの勤務時間も少ないドイツに
日本は負けたのです。
この話
私たち日本人は
一人一人がしっかり受け止めて
もう根拠のないプライドとか
自己評価の高さ
決別するべきでしょうね。
資源の無い日本は
製造業と科学技術で豊かになるしかない訳ですが
家電は衰退
旅客機はお金をかけても型式証明が取れずに断念
新型コロナワクチンは
結局完成できないまま終了
ＩＴはアメリカと新興国に押されっぱなし
これでは衰退するのは自然の流れですよね。
むしろこれから先がまだある
そんな気がします。
ただ
ではこれが嘆く事か？
って言うとそうではありません
私は日本の社会はこれから良くなる
これを信じています。
理由は簡単です
人間は順調な時には慢心して堕落しますが
苦境に陥れば
謙虚になり努力するからです。
日本社会もいつまでも坂道を転がるだけではありません
いずれ巻き返します。
ではどう巻き返すのか？
私ごときが具体的な事まで分る訳ありませんよね。
ただ
私自身は
会社のかじ取りでしっかり意識してる事があります。
それはドイツと同じで
効率的な仕事
これによって豊かさを取り戻せる
そう確信しています。
つまり
労働時間を減らして
売上を伸ばす
これが出来て初めて
次の時代に生き残れる
そう思っています。
ですから私は社員に対しては数年前から
これから先
当社は豊かさとゆとり
この両方を追い求めますよ
ってスローガンを掲げています。
つまりドイツと同じになろう
って話です。
そして
その事を追求した結果
長く日本に蔓延した
顧客第一主義
この弊害により大量発生した
効率の悪い仕事
これはしっかり整理する
こう決めた訳です。
ですから
このブログを読んで
私が傲慢になった
なんて勘違いしてる人もいるようですが
そうではありません。
次の時代を見据えて
熟慮した結果決めた戦略なんです。

“Japanese people aren’t hardworking or anything;
their society is vertical, so everyone just pretends to work.”

He said that
Because most Japanese people would be uncomfortable when hear that story
he purposely sealed it
but I was young at the time
He said that because he thought I would accept it.
But I was also proud to be Japanese.
I didn't just take those words literally.
It remained firmly in my heart.
32 years since then
That person's words were clearly proven.
Last year's GDP statistics were announced.
Japan was overtaken by Germany.
Up until now, America and China had a larger population than Japan.
So I accept third position in the term of GDP
But this time
Germany has a much smaller population than Japan.
Moreover, this Germany
Annual working hours of workers are
It's much less than Japan.
It seems that it is 1363 hours.
In comparison, Japan has 1607 hours.
In other words
Germany has a small population and fewer working hours per person.
Japan lost.

We Japanese are
Each person should take it seriously
baseless pride
High self-esteem
we should throw off them.
Japan without resources
We have no choice but to become rich through manufacturing and science and technology.
Home appliances are in decline
Despite spending money on passenger planes development activity
We were unable to obtain type certification and gave up on it.
The new coronavirus vaccine
In the end, it ended without being completed
IT continues to be dominated by the US and emerging countries
This means this country is on the way to decline.
In fact, there is still more to come
I feel like that.
but
So is this something to lament?
That's not true
I believe that Japanese society will improve from now on.
I believe this.
The reason is simple
When people are doing well, they become arrogant and become corrupt.
When in the condition of hard
We become humble and work hard.
Japanese society won't just roll down the slope forever.
We'll get back to it someday.
So how do we turn it around?
There's no way someone like me would know the specifics.

There are certain things that I am very conscious of when I am at the helm of a company.
it's the same as Germany
efficient work
This will bring back your wealth
I'm sure of that.
In other words
reduce working hours
increase sales
This is the most condition to survive in the next era
I think so.
Therefore, for several years now, I have started to talk to my employees.
From now on
Our company pursue rich and free of pressure both
It is a slogan.
In other words, it will be the same as Germany.
