African children who have lost their parents will soon get help from Japan. The Ashinaga organization, which provides scholarships to orphaned children, has decided to set up an education facility in Kyoto.
At a meeting on Friday, Ashinaga President Yoshiomi Tamai said the facility will allow African children to attend universities in Japan or Western nations. Tamai expressed his hope that the school in Kyoto will develop as an impactful institution.

"I think that Africa is a very important continent and will be of benefit to Japan's future. That's why we would like to make an utmost effort in its development."

The goal is to educate the children to become leaders who can contribute to their home countries. The organization has been providing educational support to African orphans for four years. It will work with Kyoto City officials to decide on a site for the school, when to open it, and its curriculum.
