箴言６章

わが子よ！もしあなたが隣人のために保証人となり、見知らぬ人のために手を打ったなら、
My son if thou be surety for thy friend if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger
1 わが子よ。もし、あなたが隣人のために保証人となり、他国人のために誓約をし、

2 あなたの口の言葉によって、あなたはわなにかかってしまった。
あなたはその口のことばによって捕えられる。
Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth thou art taken with the words of thy mouth
2 あなたの口のことばによって、あなた自身がわなにかかり、あなたの口のことばによって、捕らえられたなら、

3 わが子よ！今このことを行い、自分を救い出せ！あなたは隣人の手に入る。
行って、へりくだり、あなたの隣人をせめなさい！
Do this now my son and deliver thyself when thou art come into the hand of thy friend go humble thyself and make sure thy friend
3 わが子よ。そのときはすぐこうして、自分を救い出すがよい。あなたは隣人の手に陥ったのだから。行って、伏して隣人にしつこくせがむがよい。

4 あなたの目に眠りを与えず、あなたのまぶたにまどろみを与えないようにしなさい！
Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.
4 あなたの目を眠らせず、あなたのまぶたをまどろませず、

5 あなたはガゼルのように、狩人の手から逃れ、鳥のように、鳥撃ちの手から逃れなさい！
Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand [of the hunter], and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
5 かもしかが狩人の手からのがれるように、鳥が鳥を取る者の手からのがれるように自分を救い出せ。

6 あなたの怠け者よ、蟻の所に行きなさい！
Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
6 なまけ者よ。蟻のところへ行き、そのやり方を見て、知恵を得よ。

7 蟻には長も、監督者も、支配者もない、
Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
7 蟻には首領もつかさも支配者もいないが、

8 夏にはその糧を与え、収穫にはその糧を得る。
Provideth her meat in the summer, [and] gathereth her food in the harvest.
8 夏のうちに食物を確保し、刈り入れ時に食糧を集める。

9 なまけものよ！あなたはいつまで眠るのか。いつ眠りから覚めるのか。
How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
9 なまけ者よ。いつまで寝ているのか。いつ目をさまして起きるのか。

10 「まだ少し眠り、少しまどろみ、少し手を組んで眠る。」
[Yet] a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
10 しばらく眠り、しばらくまどろみ、しばらく手をこまねいて、また休む。

11 あなたの貧しさは走者のように、あなたの欠乏は武装した者のように来るだろう。
So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
11 だから、あなたの貧しさは浮浪者のように、あんたの乏しさは横着者のようにやって来る。

12 卑しい者、不義の人、口を汚して歩む者は、不義の人である。
A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.
12 よこしまな者や不法の者は、曲がったことを言って歩き回り、

13 その目でさ迷い、その足でこすり、その指で指し示す者である。
He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
13 目くばせをし、足で合図し、指でさし、

14 その心には不品行があり、絶えず悪をたくらみ、不和を蒔く。
Frowardness [is] in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.
14 そのねじれた心は、いつも悪を計り、争いをまき散らす。

15 それゆえ、彼の災難は突然に訪れ、突然に彼は打ち砕かれ、しかも救済されない。
Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.
15 それゆえ、災害は突然やって来て、彼はたちまち滅ぼされ、いやされることはない。

16 主が憎む六つの事、いや、憎むべき七つの事がある。
These six [things] doth the LORD hate: yea, seven [are] an abomination unto him:
16 主の憎むべきものが六つある。いや、主ご自身の忌みきらうものが七つある。

17 高慢な目、うそをつく舌、罪のない血を流す手、
A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
17 高ぶる目、偽りの舌、罪のない者の血を流す手、

18 悪をたくらむ心、悪に走る足、
An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
18 邪悪な計画を細工する心、悪へ走る速い足、

19 嘘を吐く偽りの証人、同胞の間に不和をまき散らす者。
A FALSE witness [that] speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
19 まやかしを吹聴する偽りの証人、兄弟の間に争いをひき起こす者。

20 わが子よ！父の戒めを守り、母の教えを捨てないようにしなさい！
My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
20 わが子よ。あなたの父の命令を守れ。あなたの母の教えを捨てるな。

21 これを絶えずあなたの心に結びつけ、あなたの首に結びつけなさい！
Bind them continually upon thine heart, [and] tie them about thy neck.
21 それをいつも、あなたの心に結び、あなたの首の回りに結びつけよ。

22 あなたが歩く時は、これがあなたを導き、あなたが伏す時は、これがあなたを見守り、あなたが目をさます時は、これがあなたと語り合いなさい！
When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and [when] thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
22 これは、あなたは歩くとき、あなたを導き、あなたが寝るとき、あなたを見守り、あなたが目ざめるとき、あなたに話しかける。

23 戒めはともしび、教えは光、訓戒は命の道だからである。
For the commandment [is] a lamp; and the law [is] light; and reproofs of instruction [are] the way of life:
23 命令はともしびであり、おしえは光であり、訓戒のための叱責はいのちの道であるからだ。

24 あなたを悪しき女から、異国の舌の滑らかさから遠ざけるためである。
To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
24 これはあなたを悪い女から守り、見知らぬ女のなめらかな舌から守る。

25 あなたの心のうちで、その美を慕ってはならない！
Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
25 彼女の美しさを心に慕うな。そのまぶたに捕らえられるな。

26 娼婦のゆえに、人は一斤のパンにありつくが、姦淫の女は尊い命を狩る。
For by means of a whorish woman [a man is brought] to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.
26 遊女はひとかたまりのパンで買えるが、人妻は尊いいのちをあさるからだ。

27 人はその懐に火を持っていて、その衣が焼かれないことがあろうか。
Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
27 人は火をふところにかき込んで、その着物が焼けないだろうか。

28 また、熱い炭火の上を歩いて、その足が焦げないことがあろうか。
Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?
28 また人が、熱い火を踏んで、その足が焼けないだろうか。

29 そのように隣人の妻に入る者は、その妻に触れる者は誰でも罰せられないことはない。
So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.
29 隣の人の妻と姦通する者は、これと同じこと、その女に触れた者はだれでも罰を免れない。

30 人は盗人が飢えている時、その魂を満たすために盗んでも、軽蔑しない。
[Men] do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;
30 盗人が飢え、自分の飢えを満たすために盗んだとしたら、人々はその者をさげすまないであろうか。

31 しかし、見いだされたら、七倍にして返し、その家のすべての物を捧げなければならない。
But [if] he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.
31 もし、つかまえられたなら、彼は七倍を償い、自分の家の財産をことごとく与えられなければならない。

32 女と姦淫をする者は分別がなく、自分の魂を滅ぼそうとしてそうするのである。
[But] whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he [that] doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
32 女と姦通する者は思慮に欠けている。これを行う者は自分自身を滅ぼす。

33 その者は傷と不名誉とを受け、そのそしりはぬぐい去られない。
A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
33 彼は傷と恥辱とを受けて、そのそしりを消し去ることができない。

34 ねたみは人の怒りであって、彼は復讐の日に惜しまない。
For jealousy [is] the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
34 嫉妬が、その夫を激しく憤らせて、夫が復讐するとき、、彼を容赦しないからだ。

35 彼はどんな身代金も顧みず、あなたが多くの賜物を与えても、彼は満足しない。
He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.
35 彼はどんな償い物も受けつけず、多くの贈り物をしても、彼は和らがない。

1 わが子よ。もし、あなたが隣人のために保証人となり、他国人のために誓約をし、
2 あなたの口のことばによって、あなた自身がわなにかかり、あなたの口のことばによって、捕らえられたなら、
3 わが子よ。そのときはすぐこうして、自分を救い出すがよい。あなたは隣人の手に陥ったのだから。行って、伏して隣人にしつこくせがむがよい。
4 あなたの目を眠らせず、あなたのまぶたをまどろませず、
5 かもしかが狩人の手からのがれるように、鳥が鳥を取る者の手からのがれるように自分を救い出せ。
6 なまけ者よ。蟻のところへ行き、そのやり方を見て、知恵を得よ。
7 蟻には首領もつかさも支配者もいないが、

20 わが子よ。あなたの父の命令を守れ。あなたの母の教えを捨てるな。
21 それをいつも、あなたの心に結び、あなたの首の回りに結びつけよ。
22 これは、あなたは歩くとき、あなたを導き、あなたが寝るとき、あなたを見守り、あなたが目ざめるとき、あなたに話しかける。
23 命令はともしびであり、おしえは光であり、訓戒のための叱責はいのちの道であるからだ。
24 これはあなたを悪い女から守り、見知らぬ女のなめらかな舌から守る。
25 彼女の美しさを心に慕うな。そのまぶたに捕らえられるな。
26 遊女はひとかたまりのパンで買えるが、人妻は尊いいのちをあさるからだ。
27 人は火をふところにかき込んで、その着物が焼けないだろうか。
28 また人が、熱い火を踏んで、その足が焼けないだろうか。
29 隣の人の妻と姦通する者は、これと同じこと、その女に触れた者はだれでも罰を免れない。

My son, if thou art become surety for thy neighbour, if thou hast struck thy hands for a stranger--
2 Thou art snared by the words of thy mouth, thou art caught by the words of thy mouth--
3 Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, seeing thou art come into the hand of thy neighbour; go, humble thyself, and urge thy neighbour.
4 Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.
5 Deliver thyself as a gazelle from the hand [of the hunter], and as a bird from the hand of the fowler. 
6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise;
7 Which having no chief, overseer, or ruler,
8 Provideth her bread in the summer, and gatherest her food in the harvest.
9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
10 'Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep'--
11 So shall thy poverty come as a runner, and thy want as an armed man. 
12 A base person, a man of iniquity, is he that walketh with a froward mouth;
13 That winketh with his eyes, that scrapeth with his feet, that pointeth with his fingers;
14 Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth evil continually; he soweth discord.
15 Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; on a sudden shall he be broken, and that without remedy. 
16 There are six things which the LORD hateth, yea, seven which are an abomination unto Him:
17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood;
18 A heart that deviseth wicked thoughts, feet that are swift in running to evil;
19 A false witness that breatheth out lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
20 My son, keep the commandment of thy father, and forsake not the teaching of thy mother;
21 Bind them continually upon thy heart, tie them about thy neck.
22 When thou walkest, it shall lead thee, when thou liest down, it shall watch over thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
23 For the commandment is a lamp, and the teaching is light, and reproofs of instruction are the way of life;
24 To keep thee from the evil woman, from the smoothness of the alien tongue.
25 Lust not after her beauty in thy heart; neither let her captivate thee with her eyelids.
26 For on account of a harlot a man is brought to a loaf of bread, but the adulteress hunteth for the precious life. 
27 Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
28 Or can one walk upon hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?
29 So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not go unpunished.
30 Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;
31 But if he be found, he must restore sevenfold, he must give all the substance of his house.
32 He that committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding; he doeth it that would destroy his own soul.
33 Wounds and dishonour shall he get, and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
34 For jealousy is the rage of a man, and he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
35 He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.
