ダニエル書１０章

ペルシャの王キュロスの第三年に、ベルテシャザルという名のダニエルに、御言葉が啓示されました。
2 その頃、私ダニエルは丸三週間、嘆き悲しんでいました。
3 私は三週間が全うされるまで、楽しんでパンを食べず、肉もぶどう酒も口にせず、また、自分に油を注ぐことも全くしませんでした。
4 そして、第一の月の四日と二十日に、私は大いなる川、チグリスのほとりにいました。
5 私が目をあげて見ると、亜麻布を着て、その腰にはウファズの純金を帯びた人がいました。
6 その体はベリルのようであり、その顔は稲妻のようであり、その目は火の松明のようであり、その腕と足は焼いた真鍮のようであり、その言葉の声は群衆の声のようでした。
7 この幻を見たのは私ダニエルだけで、私と一緒にいた者たちは幻を見ませんでした。

8 こうして、私は一人残されて、この大いなる幻を見ましたが、私の内に力はなく、私の顔は堕落し、私は力を失くしました。
8 私は、ひとり残って、この大きな幻を見たが、私は、うちから力が抜け、顔の輝きもうせ、力を失った。

9 しかし、私はその言葉の声を聞いた時、顔を地に向けて深い眠りに落ちました。
10 見よ！一つの手が私に触れたので、私はひざと手のひらの上でよろめきました。
11 彼は私に言いました。
「ダニエルよ！あなたは非常に愛されている人だ！
私があなたに語る言葉に注意し、まっすぐに立っていなさい！
私は今、あなたに遣わされたのだ。」
12 そこで彼は私に言いました。
「ダニエル！恐れるな！
あなたが心を砕いて理解し、あなたの神の前にへりくだった最初の日から、
あなたの言葉は聞かれ、私はあなたの言葉のゆえに来たのだ。
13 しかし、ペルシャの王国の王子は一日と二十日の間、私に立ち向かったが、見よ！大王の一人ミカエルが来て、私を助け、私はペルシャの王たちのかたわらに残されました。
14 今、私は、日の終わりにあなたの民に何が起こるかを、あなたに理解させるために来たのであって、その日のための幻がまだあるからです。」
15 彼がこれらの言葉に従って私に語った時、私は顔を地に向け、口がきけなくなりました。
16 見よ！人の子らに似た者が私の唇に触れたので、私は口を開き、語って、私の前に立っている者に言いました。
「わが君よ、幻のために、私の痛みは私に臨み、私は力を保てないのです。
17 わが主の僕が、どうしてこのわが主と話すことができましょう。」
18 その時、人の姿のような者が再び私に触れて、私を力づけました。
19 そして言われました。
「大いに愛されている者よ！恐れるな！ あなたに平安あれ！強くなれ！強くなれ！」
彼が私に語った時、私は力を得て、言いました。
「主君に語らせなさい！あなたが私を強くしてくださったのですから。」
20 そこで彼は言いました。
「私は今ペルシャの王子と戦うために帰り、出て行くと、見よ！ギリシアの王子が来るであろう。」
21 しかし、私は真理の書物にしるされていることを、あなたに告げます。

6 そのからだは緑柱石のようであり、その顔はいなずまのようであり、その目は燃えるたいまつのようであった。また、その腕と足は、みがき上げた青銅のようで、そのことばの声は群衆の声のようであった。
7 この幻は、私、ダニエルひとりだけが見て、私といっしょにいた人々は、その幻を見なかったが、彼らは震え上がって逃げ隠れた。
8 私は、ひとり残って、この大きな幻を見たが、私は、うちから力が抜け、顔の輝きもうせ、力を失った。

10 ちょうどそのとき、一つの手が私に触れ、私のひざと手をゆさぶった。
11 それから彼は私に言った。「神に愛されている人ダニエルよ。私が今から語ることばをよくわきまえよ。そこに立ち上がれ。私は今、あなたに遣わされたのだ。」彼が、このことばを私に語ったとき、私は震えながら立ち上がった。
12 彼は私に言った。「恐れるな。ダニエル。あなたが心を定めて悟ろうとし、あなたの神の前でへりくだろうと決めたその初めの日から、あなたのことばは聞かれているからだ。私が来たのは、あなたのことばのためだ。
13 ペルシヤの国の君が二十一日間、私に向かって立っていたが、そこに、第一の君のひとり、ミカエルが私を助けに来てくれたので、私は彼をペルシヤの王たちのところに残しておき、
14 終わりの日にあなたの民に起こることを悟らせるために来たのだ。なお、その日についての幻があるのだが。」
15 彼が私にこのようなことを語っている間、私はうつむいていて、何も言えなかった。
16 ちょうどそのとき、人の姿をとった者が、私のくちびるに触れた。それで、私は口を開いて話し出し、私に向かって立っていた者に言った。「わが主よ。この幻によって、私は苦痛に襲われ、力を失いました。
17 わが主のしもべが、どうしてわが主と話せましょう。私には、もはや、力もうせてしまい、息も残っていないのです。」
18 すると、人間のように見える者が、再び私に触れ、私を力づけて、
19 言った。「神に愛されている人よ。恐れるな。安心せよ。強くあれ。強くあれ。」彼が私にこう言ったとき、私は奮い立って言った。「わが主よ。お話しください。あなたは私を力づけてくださいましたから。」
20 そこで、彼は言った。「私が、なぜあなたのところに来たかを知っているか。今は、ペルシヤの君と戦うために帰って行く。私が出かけると、見よ、ギリシヤの君がやって来る。
21 しかし、真理の書に書かれていることを、あなたに知らせよう。あなたがたの君ミカエルのほかには、私とともに奮い立って、彼らに立ち向かう者はひとりもいない。

In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a word was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the word was true, even a great warfare; and he gave heed to the word, and had understanding of the vision.
2 In those days I Daniel was mourning three whole weeks.
3 I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled. 
4 And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Tigris,
5 I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz;
6 his body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as torches of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to burnished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.
7 And I Daniel alone saw the vision; for the men that were with me saw not the vision; howbeit a great trembling fell upon them, and they fled to hide themselves.
8 So that I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me; for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.
9 Yet heard I the voice of his words; and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I fallen into a deep sleep on my face, with my face toward the ground.
10 And, behold, a hand touched me, which set me tottering upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.
11 And he said unto me: 'O Daniel, thou man greatly beloved, give heed unto the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright; for now am I sent unto thee'; and when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.
12 Then said he unto me: 'Fear not, Daniel; for from the first day that thou didst set thy heart to understand, and to humble thyself before thy God, thy words were heard; and I am come because of thy words.
13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days; but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I was left over there beside the kings of Persia.
14 Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the end of days; for there is yet a vision for the days.'
15 And when he had spoken unto me according to these words, I set my face toward the ground, and was dumb.
16 And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips; then I opened my mouth, and spoke and said unto him that stood before me: 'O my lord, by reason of the vision my pains are come upon me, and I retain no strength.
17 For how can this servant of my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither was there breath left in me.'
18 Then there touched me again one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me.
19 And he said: 'O man greatly beloved, fear not! peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong.' And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said: 'Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.'
20 Then said he: Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia; and when I go forth, lo, the prince of Greece shall come.
21 Howbeit I will declare unto thee that which is inscribed in the writing of truth; and there is none that holdeth with me against these, except Michael your prince.
