イザヤ書１０章
災いなるかな、不義の判決を下す者、不義を書く者たち。
2 困っている者を裁きから遠ざけ、わたしの民の貧しい者の権利を奪い、やもめをその戦利品とし、父のない者をその獲物にするせいである。
3 あなたがたは報復の日と、遠くから来る破滅との間に何をするのか。
あなたがたは誰に助けを求めて逃げるのか。
あなたがたはその栄光をどこに置いていくのか。
4 彼らは捕われ人の下に身をかがめ、殺される人の下に倒れる以外に何もできない。このようなことのために、主の怒りは遠ざからず、その御手はまだ伸ばされている。
5 アッシリヤよ。わたしの怒りの棒、その手にわたしの憤りが杖のようにある者よ。
6 わたしは彼を不信心な国民につかわし、わたしの怒りの民につかわし、略奪物を取り、獲物を取り、道の泥のように彼らを踏みつぶす。
7 しかし、彼はそのようには思わず、その心もそのようには思わないが、彼の心には、滅ぼすことと、少なからぬ国々を断つこととがある。
8 彼は言う。
「私の君たちは皆、王ではないか。
9 カルノはカルケミシュではないか。ハマスはアルパドではないか。サマリヤはダマスカスのようではないか。
10 わたしの手が偶像の王国に達したように、その彫られた像はエルサレムとサマリヤのそれを越えた。
11 わたしがサマリヤとその偶像とにしたように、エルサレムとその偶像にもしてはならないだろうか。」
12 それゆえ、主がシオンの山とエルサレムの上にそのすべての業を行われる時、わたしはアッシリヤの王の傲慢な心の実とその高慢な顔の栄光を罰する。
13 彼は言った。
「私の手の力によって、私はこれを行い、また私の知恵によって。私は思慮深いからだ。
14 私の手は民の富を巣のように見つけ、人が見捨てられた卵を集めるように、私は全地を集めたが、翼を動かす者、口を開く者、さえずる者はなかった。」
15 斧はそれで造る者に対して誇るべきか。
のこぎりはそれを動かす者に反して、自分を誇示しなければならない。
16 それゆえ、万軍の主はその肥えた者の中に痩せた者を送り、その栄光の下には火の燃えるような火炎が燃え上がるであろう。
17 イスラエルの光は火のように、その聖なる者は炎のようになり、そのいばらとはげを一日にして焼き尽くし、食い尽くすであろう。
18 また、その森の栄光とその実のなる野の栄光は、魂と体とを焼き尽くし、病人が衰えるようになる。
19 その森の木の残りは、子供がそれを書き記すことができるほど少ない。
20 その日、イスラエルの残党およびヤコブの家から逃れた者は、自分達を打ち殺した者に再び頼ることなく、イスラエルの聖なる者である主に真実に頼るようになるであろう。
21 ヤコブの残りの者は、力ある神のもとに帰る。
22 イスラエルよ！あなたの民は海の砂のようであっても、そのうちの残りの者だけが帰って来る。
23 万軍の神である主は完全に決定された退治を全地の中央に行う。
24 それゆえ、万軍の神、主はこう言われる。
シオンに住むわが民よ！アッシリヤがエジプトのように、棒であなたを打ち、杖をあなたに向けて上げても、アッシリヤを恐れてはならない！
25 まだほんの少しの間で、その憤りは完成し、わたしの怒りは彼らを滅ぼすであろう。
26 万軍の主はオレブの岩でミディアンを殺した時のように、彼に向かってあおぎ、主の杖が海の上にあったように、エジプトのようにそれを持ち上げるであろう。
27 その日、その重荷はあなたの肩から離れ、そのくびきはあなたの首から離れ、そのくびきは肥えて滅びるであろう。
28 彼はアイアスに来て、ミグロンを通り、ミハマスでその荷物を置く。
29 彼らは峠を越え、ゲバに宿り、ラマは震え、ギビエス・シャウルは逃げ去った。
30 ガリムの娘よ！あなたは声をあげて叫ぶがよい。
聞け！ライシュよ！哀れなアナトトよ！
31 マドメナは狂ったように逃げ、ゲビムの住民は隠れて逃げている。
32 この日、彼はノブにとどまり、シオンの娘の山、エルサレムの丘に手を振っている。
33 見よ！万軍の主は恐怖をもって木の枝を切り、身長の高い者は切り倒され、高き者は低くされるであろう。
34 主は鉄をもって森の茂みを切り倒し、レバノンは力ある者によって倒れる。
1 ああ。不義のおきてを制定する者、わざわいを引き起こす判決を書いている者たち。
2 彼らは、寄るべのない者の正しい訴えを退け、わたしの民のうちの悩む者の権利をかずめ、やもめを自分のとりこにし、みなしごたちをかすめ奪っている。
3 刑罰の日、遠くからあらしが来るときに、あなたがたはどうするのか。だれに助けを求めて逃げ、どこに自分の栄光を残すのか。
4 ただ、捕らわれ人の足もとにひざをつき、殺された者たちのそばに倒れるだけだ。それでも、御怒りは去らず、なおも、御手は伸ばされている。
5 ああ。アッシリヤ、わたしの怒りの杖。彼らの手にあるわたしの憤りのむち。
6 わたしはこれを神を敬わない国に送り、わたしの激しい怒りの民を襲えと、これに命じ、物を分捕らせ、獲物を奪わせ、ちまたの泥のように、これを踏みにじらせる。
7 しかし、彼自身はそうとは思わず、彼の心もそうは考えない。彼の心にあるのは、滅ぼすこと、多くの国々を断ち滅ぼすことだ。
8 なぜなら、彼はこう思っている。「私の高官たちはみな、王ではないか。
9 カルノもカルケミシュのよう、ハマテもアルパデのようではないか。サマリヤもダマスコのようではないか。
10 エルサレム、サマリヤにまさる刻んだ像を持つ偽りの神々の王国を私が手に入れたように、
11 サマリヤとその偽りの神々に私がしたように、エルサレムとその多くの偶像にも私が同じようにしないだろうか」と。
12 主はシオンの山、エルサレムで、ご自分のすべてのわざを成し遂げられるとき、アッシリヤの王の高慢の実、その誇らしげな高ぶりを罰する。
13 それは、彼がこう言ったからである。「私は自分の手の力でやった。私の知恵でやった。私は賢いからだ。私が、国々の民の境を除き、彼らのたくわえを奪い、全能者のように、住民をおとしめた。
14 私の手は国々の民の財宝を巣のようにつかみ、また私は、捨てられた卵を集めるように、すべての国々を集めたが、翼を動かす者も、くちばしを大きく開く者も、さえずる者もいなかった。」
15 斧は、それを使って切る人に向かって高ぶることができようか。のこぎりは、それをひく人に向かっておごることができようか。それは棒が、それを振り上げる人を動かし、杖が、木でない人を持ち上げるようなものではないか。
16 それゆえ、万軍の主、主は、その最もがんじょうな者たちのうちにやつれを送り、その栄光のもとで、火が燃えるように、それを燃やしてしまう。
17 イスラエルの光は火となり、その聖なる方は炎となる。燃え上がって、そのおどろといばらを一日のうちになめ尽くす。
18 主はその美しい林も、果樹園も、また、たましいも、からだも滅ぼし尽くす。それは病人がやせ衰えるようになる。
19 その林の木の残りは数えるほどになり、子どもでもそれらを書き留められる。
20 その日になると、イスラエルの残りの者、ヤコブの家ののがれた者は、もう再び、自分を打つ者にたよらず、イスラエルの聖なる方、主に、まことをもって、たよる。
21 残りの者、ヤコブの残りの者は、力ある神に立ち返る。
22 たとい、あなたの民イスラエルが海辺の砂のようであっても、その中の残りの者だけが立ち返る。壊滅は定められており、義があふれようとしている。
23 すでに定められた全滅を、万軍の神、主が、全世界のただ中で行おうとしておられるからだ。
24 それゆえ、万軍の神、主は、こう仰せられる。「シオンに住むわたしの民よ。アッシリヤを恐れるな。彼がむちであなたを打ち、エジプトがしたように杖をあなたに振り上げても。
25 もうしばらくすれば、憤りは終わり、わたしの怒りが彼らを滅ぼしてしまうから。
26 オレブの岩でミデヤンを打ったときのように、万軍の主がアッシリヤにむちを振り上げる。杖を海にかざして、エジプトにしたように、それを上げる。
27 その日になると、彼の重荷はあなたの肩から、彼のくびきはあなたの首から除かれる。くびきはあなたの肩からもぎ取られる。」
28 彼はアヤテに着き、ミグロンを過ぎ、ミクマスに荷を置く。
29 彼らは渡し場を過ぎ、ゲバで野営する。ラマはおののき、サウルのギブアは逃げる。
30 ガリムの娘よ。かん高く叫べ。よく聞け、ラユシャよ。哀れなアナトテ。
31 マデメナは逃げ去り、ゲビムの住民は身を避ける。
32 その日、彼はノブで立ちとどまり、シオンの娘の山、エルサレムの丘に向かって、こぶしを振り上げる。
33 見よ。万軍の主、主が恐ろしい勢いで枝を切り払う。たけの高いものは切り落とされ、そびえたものは低くされる。
34 主は林の茂みを斧で切り落とし、レバノンは力強い方によって倒される。
Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and to the writers that write iniquity;
2 To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right of the poor of My people, that widows may be their spoil, and that they may make the fatherless their prey!
3 And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the ruin which shall come from far? To whom will ye flee for help? And where will ye leave your glory?
4 They can do nought except crouch under the captives, and fall under the slain. For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
5 O Asshur, the rod of Mine anger, in whose hand as a staff is Mine indignation!
6 I do send him against an ungodly nation, and against the people of My wrath do I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.
7 Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy, and to cut off nations not a few.
8 For he saith: 'Are not my princes all of them kings?
9 Is not Calno as Carchemish? Is not Hamath as Arpad? Is not Samaria as Damascus?
10 As my hand hath reached the kingdoms of the idols, whose graven images did exceed them of Jerusalem and of Samaria;
11 Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?'
12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed His whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his haughty looks.
13 For he hath said: by the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom, for I am prudent; in that I have removed the bounds of the peoples, and have robbed their treasures, and have brought down as one mighty the inhabitants;
14 And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the peoples; and as one gathereth eggs that are forsaken, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or that opened the mouth, or chirped.
15 Should the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? Should the saw magnify itself against him that moveth it? as if a rod should move them that lift it up, or as if a staff should lift up him that is not wood.
16 Therefore will the Lord, the LORD of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory there shall be kindled a burning like the burning of fire.
17 And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame; and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day.
18 And the glory of his forest and of his fruitful field, he will consume both soul and body; and it shall be as when a sick man wasteth away.
19 And the remnant of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them down.
20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and they that are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.
21 A remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto God the Mighty.
22 For though thy people, O Israel, be as the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them shall return; an extermination is determined, overflowing with righteousness.
23 For an extermination wholly determined shall the Lord, the GOD of hosts, make in the midst of all the earth.
24 Therefore thus saith the Lord, the GOD of hosts: O My people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of Asshur, though he smite thee with the rod, and lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.
25 For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall be accomplished, and Mine anger shall be to their destruction.
26 And the LORD of hosts shall stir up against him a scourge, as in the slaughter of Midian at the Rock of Oreb; and as His rod was over the sea, so shall He lift it up after the manner of Egypt.
27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall depart from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed by reason of fatness.
28 He is come to Aiath, he is passed through Migron; at Michmas he layeth up his baggage;
29 They are gone over the pass; they have taken up their lodging at Geba; Ramah trembleth; Gibeath-shaul is fled.
30 Cry thou with a shrill voice, O daughter of Gallim! Hearken, O Laish! O thou poor Anathoth!
31 Madmenah is in mad flight; the inhabitants of Gebim flee to cover.
32 This very day shall he halt at Nob, shaking his hand at the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.
33 Behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, shall lop the boughs with terror; and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the lofty shall be laid low.
34 And He shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one.
