According to sources,the government and ruling parties have started on Wednesday deliberating on revising the Development Bank of Japan's emergency program.DBJ is a virtually state-operated financial institution and currently under its economic emergency program is offering financial supports to private firms.The current range of DBJ's loans to private firms under the emergency program in total is 1 trillion yen.The direction of the discussion among people concerned is that the range should be raised to 10 trillion yen.Another point is that the equity capital of DBJ should increase by 3 trillion yen. These ideas are all aimed at helping private firms collect necessary money amid the ongoing economic downturn.

昭シェル、日立の工場買収へ　プラズマパネル拠点　太陽電池生産に転換

According to sources familiar with the matter,Showa Shell Sekiyu has entered into its final negotiation stage with Hitachi to take over Hitachi's plant for producing plasma panels used for the flat-screen TVs.Under the nogotiation, Showa Shell will undertake the plant including the employees and change it to the mass-production site for solar power generation panels,whose production procedure is almost the same with that of plasma panels.Showa Shell has a plan that they will have been able to manufacture the solar power generation panel,whose featurere is chemical compound without silicon, by the year 2011,investing money of some 100 billion yen.The plant from Hitachi would be one of its main production sites.
