According to sources familiar with the matter,the government has a plan to develop a new storage battery used for the next-generation vehicle which is eco-friendly jointly with private firms and universities.Specifically,with the money of 21 billion yen invested over the period from this fiscal year to fiscal 2015,the government has set up goals like that during the period mileage of electricity-powere vehicle will be extended one and a half times the current level and also the cost will be diminished to one-sixth of the current level.Another goal is that it will have developed a new battery by which vehicles can run as fast as a gasolin-engine vehicle by the year of fiscal 2030.
