ミャンマー地震　死者１０００人超　インフラ被害　救援難航　日本人２人負傷　タイ１０人死亡
Regarding the earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 which took place in the central part of Myanmar on February 28, the country's military force announced on February 29 that the death number had reached 1,002 in the country. According to the information from the Japanese Embassy in Myanmar, two Japanese people were injured. In the neighboring country Thailand, 10 people have been identified to be dead so far in Bangkok where there was a collapse of a building under construction. As lots of the infrastructures are damaged, there seems to be difficulty doing rescue activities.

A major Japanese nonlife insurance group MS&AD Holdings announced on February 28 that Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance and Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance, both of which are under its wing, will get into the talks for getting merged in April 2027. It is aimed at improving their business management efficiency in the background that domestic market has been declining because of depopulation. If this deal is realized, the new-born insurance company would be Japan's biggest one in the nonlife insurance field.

There are many cases in Japan at present where an organ transplantation is declined in a medical facility because of the lack of appropriate employees and beds. It is learned that to deal with this problem, the University of Tokyo's Hospital, which has been top in Japan in terms of the number of surgeries in the field, will hire 8 surgeons specializing in the organ transplantation in the next fiscal year. The hospital also intends to maintain or build surgery rooms or intensive care units. Those efforts are aimed at nurturing the leaders in the field and improve Japan's organ transplantation.
