apanese Emperor Naruhito has marked one year since ascending the throne as the country remains under a state of emergency due to the coronavirus.
The emperor was seen wearing a face mask as he entered the Imperial Palace to attend a ritual on Friday morning.

The emperor proclaimed his accession in a ceremony last October.
Over the past year, the emperor, along with Empress Masako, visited three prefectures for annual events formerly attended by Emperor Emeritus Akihito and Empress Emerita Michiko.
The imperial couple also traveled to the northeastern prefectures of Miyagi and Fukushima in the aftermath of the deadly storm, Typhoon Hagibis.

But the pandemic has forced the couple to scale back their activities this year, and a planned visit to the United Kingdom was postponed.
The emperor expressed his gratitude to frontline healthcare workers and expressed concern over the impact the virus has had on people's lives.

徒然草 第四十八段

【原文】　　

光親卿、院の最勝講奉行してさぶらひけるを、御前へ召されて、供御を出いだされて食はせられけり。さて、食ひ散らしたる衝重を御簾の中へさし入れて、罷り出でにけり。女房、「あな汚な。誰にとれとてか」など申し合はれければ、「有職の振舞、やんごとなき事なり」と、返々感ぜさせ給ひけるとぞ。

【現代語訳】

藤原光親が、仙洞御所で世界平和を祈る儀式の執行委員長をしていた時、後鳥羽上皇に呼び出された。上皇と一緒に食事をし、食べ散らかしたお膳を後鳥羽上皇のいる御簾の中に突っ込んで退場した。宮廷のお運びさんたちが「きゃぁ、汚らしいわ。誰に片づけさせるつもりなの」と、目を細め合っていると、上皇は「伝統継承者のすることは、宮中のマナーを心得ていて、天晴れだ」と言って何度も感激していたそうだ。

◆鎌倉末期の随筆。吉田兼好著。上下2巻，244段からなる。1317年(文保1)から1331年(元弘1)の間に成立したか。その間，幾つかのまとまった段が少しずつ執筆され，それが編集されて現在見るような形態になったと考えられる。それらを通じて一貫した筋はなく，連歌的ともいうべき配列方法がとられている。形式は《枕草子》を模倣しているが，内容は，作者の見聞談，感想，実用知識，有職の心得など多彩であり，仏教の厭世思想を根底にもち，人生論的色彩を濃くしている。

つまり、貴い三柱の神様と、三種の神器と和の心が。次のように見事に対応していると考えられるのです。

アマテラス大神＝鏡＝素直な心

スサノオ＝剣＝困難に立ち向かう心

ツクヨミ＝勾玉＝思いやりの心

疎の曇りを祓うには、自分の心を絶えず磨きつづけ、鏡のように輝かせておく努力が必要である。

そのためには、日常、五つのことを心がければよいと、中江藤樹は述べており、

これを「五事を正す」といいます。

「五事」とは,「貌言視聴思」を指します。

なごやかな顔つきをし【貌】

思いやりの言葉で話しかけ【言】

澄んだ目で物事を見つめ【視】

全身を耳にして誠実に相手の話を聴き【聴】

まごころを持って相手に接する【思】

柔術の目的は「相手を打ち負かすこと」。柔道の目的は「自分自身に打ち勝つこと」。

私たちのご先祖さまが、古来最も大切にしてきたのは、おそらく「恩」という概念だったでしょう。

原因の因に心とかいて恩、心は心臓の心ですから、命を意味します。

命の源に対する深い思いを、恩というのです。

日本人は、命の源として、特に太陽と大自然と父母（両親、広い意味でのご先祖さまや先人たちに、深く感謝してきました。

これら三つの恩＝三つの恵みに感謝することを。三恩三惠と言います。
