Nara Heijo Palace Trip
A Happy New Year!
I would like to inform Nara Heijo Palace and Kofukuji temple, Ukimido, Daijoin Garden, Sarusasa pond, Nara-machi.
Get off at JR Nara station, go west about 20minutes walking, you arrive at Heijo Palace Site.
Heijo Palace is established at 2010, celebrating 1300years Nara capital Festibal.
This Palace is a new traveling point of Nara.
Enter from Omiya street, Suzaku Gate is existing.
Suzaku gate is a huge vermilion gate.
From this gate, big field is spread to north.
Go to north, you have to cross Kintetsu train, go north, then arrive at Firt Daigokuden gate.
First Daigokuden is entered by stairs.
First Daigokuden is established early Heijo period, Second Daigokuden is established latter Heijo period.
First Daigokuden is destroyed by fire and pestilence, about 10years later Second Daigokuden is established east side of this First Daigokuden.
This palace has a Plush chair, which is for Emperor Tenno sitting.

Next is Heijyo Palace site Museum.
This museum is free.
The museum display a wood strip, earthenware, and mini models of government office and the palace, and the video of emperor's daily jobs.
Wood strips, written by Sumi ink about 1300years ago, are found.
Sumi ink is available to see, Sumi is eternally.
Next is Kofukuji temple.
Kofukuji is a god and pray for Fujiwara clan.
There is a five-story pagoda, and Eastern Golden Hall.
This hall has many Buddha statues.
Buddha statue of Nara period is braver than Heian period.
Go to south east, you find Ukimido in the pond.
This Ukimido is established Taisho period.
Otsu Ukimido is older than this Nara Ukimido.
Otsu Ukimido is established 1000years ago.
Go to west 200m, you arrive Daijoin temple Gardena.
This garden has circuit style pond garden.
Daijoin culture hall shows goods of Daijoin temple.
Next is Sarusawa pond.
This pond around length is 360m.
Picture which Background is Kofukji five-story pagoda, is a vest picture point.
Final visit is Nara-machi market.
Nara Machi that is surrounded JR Nara, JR Kyobate, Todaiji temple, Kintetsu Nara station, is a traditional at Edo period.
Machiya houses are lined in this town.
Karakuri Toy museum is about 500m east from Sarusawa pond.
This toy museum has many Karakuri Toys, travelers can touch and play these toys.
Receptioner explain Karakuri toys, you can play old toys.
