Sink chicks at Shimogamo Shrine

This time, I would like to introduce you to the Ryu Hina of Shimogamo Shrine.

Take the city bus from Kyoto Station, get off in front of Shimogamo Shrine, and arrive at Shimogamo Shrine immediately.

The Hinamatsuri at Shimogamo Shrine is a Shinto ritual in which the dolls "Sandawara" placed on woven straw are poured into the Mitarashi River, which flows through the precincts, and pray for the safety of children.

It will be held from 10:00 on 3/3 according to the following schedule.

11:00 Ceremony of shedding chicks by the inner lining and chicks in Heian

Yasaka Shrine's " Okera Festival"

This time, I would like to introduce Yasaka Shrine's " Okera Festival".

From JR Kyoto Station, take city bus lines 100 and 206 and get off at Gion.

The ceremony will be held from 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 31 to 5:00 a.m. on Monday, January 1.

In the "Okera Festial", worshippers transfer the fire made by burning the medicinal herb Okera from the "Okera lanterns" installed in several places in the temple grounds to the fire rope and auspicious rope, and take it home while spinning the auspicious rope.

It is said that if you transfer the "Okera fire" from the lantern to the rope and take it home while turning it from time to time so as not to extinguish the fire of the rope, and make ozoni with the flame and eat it, you will be able to spend your time without illness.

The Kakeuma Shinji of Fujimori Festival

Fujimori Festival is held from May 1 to 5 every year, and during the Shinko Festival, three mikoshi, a warrior procession, and a drum flute corps built by Ujiko in the Edo period tour the Ujiko area. 

This time, we will introduce the Kakeuma Shinji of this Fujimori Festival. From JR Kyoto Station, take the Nara Line and get off at Fujimori Station. It takes about 5 minutes on foot to the northwest and you will arrive at Fujimori Shrine.

The Kakeuma Shinji will be held on May 5 from 11:30 and 13:30, and seven types of acrobatic techniques such as reins diving, reverse riding, arrow slashing, sideways riding, and handstand will be demonstrated. 

The stunning feat of recreating the horsemanship of the battlefield is thrilling and powerful.

Kamigamo Shrine Musha Shinji Ritual

This time, I will introduce the Kamigamo Shrine Musha Shinji Ritual.

From JR Kyoto Station, take the city bus No. 4 and get off at Kamigamo-jinja-mae, then walk for about 15 minutes to arrive at Kamigamo-jinja Shrine.

The Musashi Shinji is a traditional event that began with the "shooting ceremony" held in the Imperial Palace during the Heian period.

It is a Shinto ritual to ward off evil spirits by shooting arrows, and is held at 10:30 am on January 16th.

Free.

In the Musha Shinji ritual, the Oomatoshiki ceremony is held on New Year's Day to ward off evil spirits by shooting red-lacquered arrows with a diameter of about 1.8 meters.

After the ritual is over, the Ogasawara-ryu Kinki Ryoyukai will perform the Momoteshiki ceremony in accordance with the ancient ceremony.

Hydrangea of the Kyoto Umenomiya shrine

I would like to inform the hydrangea of Umenomiya shrine.


Ride Hankyu railway Arashiyama Line, get off "Matsuo Trisha"; and a 15minute walk, arrive at Umenomiya shrine.

Ride Kyoto city bus at JR Kyoto Station,get off at " Umenomiya Trisha Mae" and a 3 minutes walkon,arrive at Umenomiya shrine.
You can enjoy a hydrangea in the garden.
